Ignition interlock device installations usually take 1-2 hours at your local Official Intoxalock Location, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. You can either wait for the installation to be complete in a waiting area or can drop off your vehicle for pick-up later.

Depending on which state you live in, you will need to have your device calibrated every 30 to 180 days. These calibrations make sure your device accurately reads and records your breath alcohol concentration with every sample you provide.

Removing your ignition interlock or breathalyzer device is easy. Your installer will remove the device and will mail it back to Intoxalock for you. It's important that only your Official Intoxalock installer disconnect your ignition interlock device.

These Girls/Guys Here Are Fabulous!!! They Get Your Calibrations Done Fast, & You Can Pay Via Cash Or Debit. There Calibrations Cost $15. An They Share Helpful Information About Intoxalock IID. They Also Have Brochures If Your Low Income Probation, Pardon, & Parole Can Help Pay You For Machine. Not The Insurance, You Have To Pay That If You Want It, But The Machine Itself They Will Pay For Monthly. Every Six Months You Have To Send In A New Application. An It Has To Be There Before The 5th Of The Month Due Or It Won't Be Reviewed Til The Following Month. These Guys Really Are Great I Advise Anyone That Has This Device To Go To Them. My Old Shop Told Me Intoxalock Statewide Changed There Calibration Price To $25 Instead Of $15 & I Found Out That Was A Lie. So Check These Guys Out, I Promise You Won't Be Disappointed!!!! An Don't Get Violations Cause There Is A Point System That Either Depending On Your Accumulated Points Makes You Extend Your Time, Or Suspend Your License Again. So I'm Just Helping Out, Sharing This Doing My Part To Help Others. Thanks So Much Liberty Auto Glass Of Easley, Y'all Are The Best!!!! With My Most Sincerity, Bethany D Mattox

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
