  Our experience with Safe Harbor City Boatyard was a great one. We were in a pinch for time and they were able to get us hauled out, get the work done, and have us back in the water in just under a week. Their staff were friendly, courteous, and professional, and while I’m sure timing and availability played a role in the turnaround they went above and beyond taking care of us. They did overshoot the estimate, but not by far and within a grand of my expectations for the final outcome. Kevin, Casey, Spencer, and Donny were a pleasure to work with and we’d do business with them again. We also had some fiberglass work done at Safe Harbor Charleston by their Mobile Marine Service Department. Again, these guys did great work. George in their office was great to work with and they nailed it on the estimate. I explained to anyone I encountered in the area that we were having fiberglass work done and they would ask who was doing the work. When I told them it was Luke from Safe Harbor, I was told “He’s the best” every single time. He didn’t disappoint, and we would gladly do business with them again.

  So, my experience with boat yards is a mixed bag. A lot of the time it has to do with the situation that is currently happening in the boat yard. As if 5/2026 this yard is efficient. I think these guys are fair. My total bill was about 20% above the quote, but you have to be realistic and expect that…it is not an exact science. Paint Jobs are easy to quote, but they had to drop my keel to do my job. Sometimes simple jobs become difficult. It’s a boat. No you cannot stay on your boat while it’s in the yard(that would be nice, but these days people will sue you for anything, so that’s understandable) The yard staff and technicians do good work.I watched them for a few days. Boat work is not the easiest thing to do. The admin staff is reasonable, but you have to be clear and prod them a bit. (They were a man short during my job) Also, going into a boat yard can be stressful. If your nice to the staff, it will go a long way for everybody.
