- HGHeather GinnJun 16, 20265.0Shop did a great job with the installation. Email from intoxalock makes it sound like you have to wait there the whole time, but that is not accurate. It is a relatively small shop and not a great waiting area, but that also usually means it’s a great mechanic shop in my experience. Obviously, you do need to plan to get a ride back there so they can show you how to operate the device. Honestly, that’s the worst part of this whole experience is figuring out The breathing pattern… You need to have really good swimmers lungs or you’re going to get lightheaded. One email from Inoxalock says you don’t have to blow hard like you’re blowing a trumpet, but I have failed so many times with the device telling me to blow harder, so clearly that’s a crock. You do have to blow and inhale hard. You’ll get the handheld device that you blow into with a cord that attaches up under the steering column. There is also a GPS mounted to the windshield on the driver side and a camera on the passenger side windshield. If the shop offers extra mouthpieces, say yes, even if you don’t think you’ll need them. You will.
