I went to Speedy Oil on Saturday for what should have been a simple oil change. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving the shop, I noticed that oil was leaking from underneath my car. By Sunday, I also discovered that the undercarriage shield had not been properly secured. Half of it was hanging underneath the vehicle, while the oil continued to leak.
Because I did not feel it was safe to continue driving the car, I had to have it towed by AAA. This was extremely frustrating and completely unacceptable, especially considering I had just brought my vehicle in for routine maintenance.
When I returned to Speedy Oil on Sunday, the shop was closed. Fortunately, I was able to speak with an employee who happened to be there, and they were able to perform another oil change and put the shield back onto the vehicle. However, the shield still does not appear to be secured or positioned correctly, and there is now visible damage/misalignment that was not there before I brought my car in.
What makes this even more concerning is that I was told the person who performed my original oil change was previously an employee who worked washing cars. If that is the case, I have serious concerns about why someone without the proper experience was allowed to perform a service as important as an oil change without adequate supervision.
This is a brand-new car that I purchased only two to three months ago, and I should not have to worry about additional damage or take it to another shop to correct problems that occurred while receiving a basic oil change.
An improperly completed oil change can result in serious engine damage or create a dangerous situation while driving. I consider myself fortunate that I noticed the leak before something much worse happened.
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received and with the inconvenience, stress, towing expense, and additional repairs I now have to deal with. I will be taking my vehicle back to my original service shop to have the undercarriage shield inspected and repaired.
I came in for a routine oil change and left with an oil leak, a loose undercarriage shield, and a car that needed to be towed. That is completely unacceptable.
I was offered a partial refund, $89 dollars doesn’t not compensate having an Audi with the shield still not back to normal and the having to go back and forth .
