First let me say, I have been a 10 year customer of Melvin's and have always been satisfied. Not so today! I made an 8:30 appt for new tires. Showed up at 8:15. At 10:15, they had not started my car. I said to attendant I had 8:30 appt. He said that it was not a doctor's office or something to that effect, and they had to finish up yesterday's customers first.
I could have explained overtime to him to complete your tasks the day before, but clearly he is not a policy maker, so I did not go that route. So they push the next days customers into long waiting times.
Half of the bays were not in use. Clearly they are short staffed. Maybe no longer a preferred place of employment? Previous years had this place working at full capacity, and a line of new customer coming through the door . Not so today.
I said to the attendant, that it looked like I would be there all morning at least, and he did not dispute that.
A couple years ago, Melvin's sold to Mavis Tire, and the Mavis culture has Melvin;s circling the bowl. Mavis is known for cheap pricing, and that is about it. I have had a few dealings with them in Georgia.

Great Service.
Friendly and welcoming.
I felt so connected when they described the issues and helped me understand.
Usually, other stores don't like questions.
Will go again. Thank you guys 🙌🙌

I found Melvin by doing a quick search for a tire plug/patch. I wasn’t sure what I needed so they did an awesome job assessing my issue. Turns out I didn’t need a patch or a plug but my rim wasn’t seated properly on the tire. They corrected the issue and also added a complimentary tire rotation. The service was swift as well, clean facility, and nice customer service.

This place is awful now that it’s been bought out. I brought my car in for a routine oil change at the beginning of May. I dropped it off at 10AM…didn’t hear from anyone until I called around 4/4:30PM. I told them I wasn’t in a huge rush to get it back, just needed to pick it up before the end of the day. When I called to check in they said they hadn’t gotten to it yet (person I spoke with was pretty snippy, had a an unpleasant attitude). Didn’t think I really needed to leave my car there all day and overnight for an OIL CHANGE. Anyway they rushed to do it within the last hour and I picked it up maybe five minutes before they closed — they charged me $110 (with a $35 off coupon, might I add). I took my car elsewhere for some other repairs because my engine has been misfiring and leaking oil — THEY HAD PUT MY OIL FILTER IN UPSIDE DOWN. Don’t take your car to this place they are incompetent and will just rip you off.

I dropped my truck off at 8:55 a.m. and was told the work would take approximately an hour and a half. Since the shop was across from a coffee shop, I decided to wait there while the work was completed.
Three and a half hours later, having received no updates, I called for a status check. I was told the truck was "just about to back out of the bay." Because I had a work call to take and could not remain there indefinitely, I told them I would return in about an hour.
I also had to coordinate childcare. Believing my truck would be ready when I arrived, I told daycare they could leave for the day and brought my young child with me to the shop. When I arrived, however, the truck was not finished. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later, I was informed it would actually be another 45 minutes. More than two additional hours passed before my truck was finally brought out.
After already spending most of the day waiting, I completed the checkout process and left. Before I even reached the first stop sign, I noticed the steering wheel was turned approximately 20–30 degrees to the left while driving straight. Even more concerning, the truck immediately pulled to the right unless I actively corrected the steering. On top of that, the dashboard displayed a suspension malfunction warning stating the vehicle required immediate service, and the four-wheel-drive system had been disabled.
At that point, I had no choice but to continue home because I needed to meet my children getting off the school bus. I attempted to call the shop and was placed on hold. After 15 minutes without speaking to anyone, I hung up and called again. This time I reached the general customer service line, explained the situation, and was scheduled to bring the truck to a different location the following Monday.
When Monday arrived, things had become even worse. The check engine light was now illuminated in addition to the suspension warning that had appeared immediately after the first visit. While driving to the second location, it was also obvious that one of the new tires had not been balanced properly.
After spending half the day at the second shop, I was informed they had corrected the alignment issues, straightened the steering wheel, and fixed the vehicle's tendency to pull right. However, they could not address the suspension faults, warning lights, or error codes that appeared after the first visit. I was told I would now need to take the truck to a Ram dealership for diagnosis and repair.
Understanding that the second shop was not responsible for the original problems, I requested to be contacted by a district or regional manager. Two days later, I still have not received a call.
The facts are simple:
I brought my truck in for new tires.
After the first visit, the truck was in significantly worse condition than when I dropped it off.
The alignment was performed incorrectly.
The steering wheel was not centered.
The truck developed suspension and four-wheel-drive faults immediately after service.
The check engine light subsequently appeared.
One wheel was not properly balanced.
A second visit was required to correct work that should have been done properly the first time.
I am now being forced to visit and potentially pay a Ram dealership to diagnose and repair issues that did not exist before my original appointment.
This was, without question, the worst automotive service experience I have ever had. I have lost an entire day at the first location, another half day at the second location, and I am still left with a truck that requires further repair. Given the complete lack of quality control, communication, and follow-up, I will never return. I am also exploring options to dispute payment for services that were either performed incorrectly or not completed properly in the first place.
