- JRJames RothOct 29, 20265.0I've got friends and family that work at other chains like napa, autozone, etc so normally I will get them to hook me up but I saw a battery on sale at advance and was like okay I'll give it a shot. Came into this store, was greeted by Jason, who had just got in the phone with a regular customer/shop/whatever and asked them to hold while he grabbed me the battery. I realized I needed lugs and some other stuff so I was like help that guy I'll shop around. Well the dude on the phone took forever and was clearly like haggling or asking for cheaper stuff with Jason for like 15 min and when it was time to pay his store account wasn't working or something and so it was more nonsense and giving Jason a hard time. Other people were calling etc and this dude was just taking forever and really difficult as a customer. Once he got off the phone, the other people that called in had given up holding and I was there with like $500 of stuff. Jason then took the time to be like okay this is on sale, this is a deal, etc. was super professional and friendly even after going through the ringer with this dude and overwhelmed by calls and traffic as the only guy there. I will go back to this advance auto over napa or AutoZone because this was the most professional auto parts clerk I've seen in decades of mechanic work. Huge shout-out to Jason and his ability to be cool after dealing with non stop nonsense.

Screw this place big time, used to be good years ago but save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
