  I don’t have a car, so no own insurance. The lady at the counter forced me to show my car insurance, when I said I don’t have. She refused to give me car without me buying liability insurance for $20 per day. After I came home I searched on google, which said it’s optional.

  I went on a 3 day trip to Portland and we received a rental car. Problems began at the beginning. I asked if after we were done and returned the vehicle if I could pay with a different card from the one on file and they told me that’d be no problem. Spoiler we pulled up to return the car and they automatically charged the card on file before we could even get out the vehicle and only asked if an emailed receipt was ok…. When we got the vehicle we opted for prepaid gas but when we got into the car it was only half full. So they had to change our agreement to allowing us to bring it back empty. The next day sightseeing were parked in a woodsy area and the car won’t start…. THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO OIL in the car, but no lights present until after it stopped working. We had to wait on a tow truck as it was getting dark and an uber to go all the way back to the airport and get a new rental. This was terribly inconvenient it took up most of our 2nd day. When receiving our second rental I spoke to a representative and asked him to note this incident on our file and he said he would but I’d have to wait until we returned the car for any type of discount or compensation they’re willing to provide…. But as I stated previously they charged the card as soon as we pulled up so nothing could really be done at that point. Worst experience with a rental car ever and no compensation or discounts or credits were given for failure to regularly inspect their vehicles before renting it to the next guest. Completely unacceptable.

  Met and interacted with 4 people from Alamo and they were an absolute pleasure. Jarret at the desk and Tony at the exit booth were two guys that were kind and friendly, made the whole experience simple and easy.

  Don’t give customers vehicles with a 1/4 tank of gas. I was traveling all day by air and had another 130 mile drive to complete my journey. I almost ran out of gas because I didn’t know the area. Plus, it is impossible to calculate how much fuel to add during my trip so that I bring it back exactly at 1/4 tank. You are welcome for the free 1/4 tank of gas on me since the tank was almost at 1/2 when I returned it. You caused me stress, lost time and fleeced me for about $15-$20 in gas. Rip-off, rip-off, rip-off. Now read the response from Alamo. Says it all…

  Rude staff that will make snide comments to each other if you care about your privacy. There is no reason to require me to verbally announce all my contact information when it is already written down for you. If that's a policy you can't change, that's fine, but say that and agree "hey, it's silly, but you have to say it out loud", don't gaslight me and tell me I'm in the wrong.
