  When I arrived at the PDX airport rental car center, they were all out of the car category that I had booked. The Alamo agent asked me if I might consider a Jeep Wrangler. I had never driven one before, but I said I would try it. Well, my lime-green Jeep and I had an absolute blast during my weeklong visit to the Pacific Northwest National Parks. It was the perfect vehicle for the trip. Upon my return, I received first-class, very personable service from the drop-off agent. All in all, my experience with the PDW Alamo crew was top-notch from start to finish. Great service and great experience!

  Great vehicle and good check in experience and return. However, my daughter forgot her wallet and we turned around and came back for it immediately. We were able to retrieve the wallet that was turned in by cleaners, but the $400 in the wallet was gone. We appreciate the wallet was returned but sad about the money. We filled a report, they told us they would look at the camera footage to see who took it. We waited for an hour an 1/2 with no success. They told us they may be able to refund our $400 after checking in with HR. Still no response 4 days later. Hopefully they figure it out.

  I used Alamo, mainly for the convenience of being able to skip the desk and not be delayed at the airport. When I went out to the skip the desk cart, the gentleman that helped us said no cars were available. They were waiting for them to come in he took off and we didn’t see him for about five minutes. In the meantime, a bunch of cars came by and got us signed out from underneath of us. We finally got a vehicle and when I got to the desk at the exit where I wanted to add another driver, there was confusion my discount for the second Driver AARP was not applied. I was hung up leaving the exit for 20 minutes while that Scott straightened out so I still ended up being hung up at the airport when I should’ve had ease of renting.

  I really wanted to give Alamo a 5-star review because the service during the rental was good and the car was also in good condition. Unfortunately, my experience after returning the vehicle changed my overall impression, so I can only give 2 stars. After returning the car (Seatac-Seattle) and checking in for my flight, I realized that I had accidentally left my sunglasses inside the vehicle. I immediately decided to go back to Alamo to try to retrieve them. What was most disappointing was that the team, including the field manager, could not locate the car I had just returned. I understand that customers are responsible for their personal belongings, and I take responsibility for leaving my sunglasses behind. However, I expected Alamo to have a system that could quickly identify and locate a recently returned vehicle, especially when I came back within a short period of time. The rental experience itself was good, but the way this situation was handled was very disappointing. I hope Alamo can improve its process for tracking recently returned vehicles and handling lost items. With better support in situations like this, this could easily have been a 5-star experience.

  We were happy to find a 2026 model hybrid rental car through Alamo. It significantly saved us fuel costs for our two week rental touring across the Pacific Northwest. We averaged 50 miles per gallon. It was the only hybrid in their fleet at the Portland airport and they were careful to hold it that day for our advance rental. Our only disappointment was the car exterior was very dusty and had not been washed. It also had significant scratches all over it. I was advised to take photos of the scratches so I would not be charged for the damage when I returned the car. The interior was clean and comfortable. I hope Alamo and other vendors will add more hybrids to their fleets.
