  HIDDEN GEM !!! Kindness, dedication and commitment to getting the job right while keeping costs down is nearly impossible to find when combined with skill and reliability. This combination rarely exists any longer. In & Out Auto Care has got it all! I live in SE Portland near Woodstock. I used to go to Tom Dwyer Auto, and stuck with their high prices because of their Service Manager, Dean. Dean moved to In & Out Auto as Service Manager. In & Out Auto is in Gladstone, just off I-205. This seemed far, but it takes me less time to get to In & Out than it did to get to Tom Dwyer in Sellwood, and there is always a place to park! In & Out has provided a Lyft for me as needed. And, it is only 2 blocks from a long stretch of park along the Clackamas River, with paved path up top or dirt path down by river, and swimming access so bring your sneakers or your suit and your dog if you're waiting. Service Manager Dean always explains options, and can find the best part for the best price with his 30+ years of experience, whether for my newer Honda or my old Suburban. Dan is the Owner of In & Out Auto who built the company. Dan is honest, kind, patient, respectful and clear, as well as exceptionally knowledgeable. Dan has 30+ years of experience, as mechanic and building a business where people want to work and customers keep coming back. Dan goes far out of his way to ensure the BEST treatment of his customers (see below). Dan treats his employees very well, like family. His son Jacob also works at the family business, and is a respectful and capable young man. All of this is evident when you interact with the team. In & Out Auto has worked on all of my family vehicles as well as my son's Ford Escape, which needed a new transmission. While they had the transmission removed, at my request they replaced other relatively inexpensive seals and parts which would require removing the transmission if they were to go bad, and did so with very reasonable rate. When I drove the Ford home, I heard a squeaking coming from something connected to the wheels. Dan drove his car from Gladstone to my house to pick up the Ford and bring it to the shop, leaving his car here. They could not duplicate the noise I was describing, but then Dan heard it as he was bringing the Ford back to me, a few blocks from my house, after being on 205 again. So, I gave Dan the Ford keys and he arranged to come pick it up from my house the next day. With clever investigative techniques, they found the problem but did not charge for the diagnosis. They then fixed the problem, and delivered it back to me! I made no trips for the squeaking fix. Before hearing the squeaking noise, I asked about fixing the center console which would pop up constantly. Dan explained how much has to be taken apart to fix it or the cost to replace it, which was too much. I said I would just figure something out with Velcro instead of paying the labor hours to fix it. When Dan returned the Ford, the squeaking was fixed. As an unspoken surprise, without charge, Dan fixed the center console spring. He said nothing. We didn't notice it until my son was doing a deep clean of his car. Kindness, dedication and commitment to getting the job right while keeping costs down is nearly impossible to find when combined with skill and reliability. This combination rarely exists any longer.   My experience with In and Out Auto Care over the past 4 years has been wonderful. They have been very thorough in inspecting my vehicles and doing excellent work on them for me. I refer my friends to them.

  Do they have new ownership?!? This used to be my go to. Every time I took my car or my son’s car in to get an oil change they never tried to upsell. Today I dropped my son’s car off. They called later in the afternoon going through the laundry list of things needing to be done - just like jiffy lube. I’m fine with that- my sounds car is older. but never dealt with it here before. What really made me upset was I agreed to a $20 tire rotation on top of the oil change and they called me back hours later saying that the lug nuts broke off during the rotation and it will now be over $400. I do not have extra money. This was a HUGE hit for me. I told the person on the phone this and I told them to not do anything else to the car. The person I dealt with called me back saying they will reimburse the $20 rotation and it will be $375. They went on to say how their own car experience had set them back thousands and that these things happen to everyone. Incredibly insensitive and out of touch. I will never again even consider this place. Absolutely ridiculous.

  Dean is very knowledgeable and straight forward with diagnosis and repair estimates. No upselling at all. It’s hard to find an honest shop like this. I’ll be back
