- BHBailey HarrisMay 10, 20262.0I went to this Jiffy Lube at the end of April for a basic oil change and got exactly the kind of experience that makes people distrust mechanic shops. I said I only wanted an oil change. Somehow that turned into me being told I “urgently” needed new front brake pads and rotors for $550—then, very generously, $450. Nothing says confidence like dropping the price $100 on the spot. When I declined and mentioned my stepdad could handle it, the employee immediately got defensive and snapped at me asking if he could do it cheaper. Here’s the best part: I just had my stepdad check my brakes, and the front pads and rotors didn’t even need to be replaced. Not urgent. Not close. He replaced them anyway since I already had the parts, but there was zero justification for what I was told. Even more telling, at another Jiffy Lube location in Norman during my previous oil change, they correctly flagged my rear brakes as needing replacement and said nothing about the front. Because they weren’t an issue. So take that for what it’s worth. This felt less like a recommendation and more like a blatant attempt to upsell a completely unnecessary repair. If you enjoy being talked down to and quoted inflated prices for work you don’t need, this is your place. Otherwise, I’d strongly suggest going literally anywhere else or getting a second opinion.

The very next day my car was leaking oil and smoking like nothing you'd ever seen. I took it in the following Saturday when I can finally get them. He told me it was my fault and that I have drove 1,800 miles in the week that I got it changed fundamentally false. He informed me it was my fault for waiting too long to get an oil change and basically was refusing to be helpful at all. He told me it was just a coincidence that after my oil change my engine started smoking and leaking oil like crazy. I will be in contact with a lawyer to see what my options are. I've had three jiffy lubes in Oklahoma City. My suggestion would be go to take 5.
