- JWJeromy WilliamsMay 7, 20261.0My wife took her car in to get an oil change (2018 Ford Edge with 66k miles). After she leaves, she sends me a bill for almost $600. She said they took her out to show her the brake fluid and coolant were low. Then, speaking in terms I'm sure they knew she didn't understand, told her she needed a full coolant flush and full brake fluid replacement. $279 for "Brake Fluid Replacement and $349 for a "Coolant flush". They never told her what it would cost until AFTER they did it. When it came time to pay, my wife, being non confrontational, just paid it and left. She then sent me the bill. I thought it was a joke at first. So I call down there because they obviously took advantage of her and purposely didn't tell her how much it was. I called them pretty upset and let them know that all that needed to be done was to top off the fluids. They told me there was no coolant in the reservoir and it was low. I asked why they didn't just top it off. He said because if they just topped it off, it would "push rust through the water pump and blow the motor up". Again, a 2018 with 65k miles. While I was talking to the manager, the technician apparently was listening in and took the phone from the manager and started talking. He asked me if I was ASE Certified because he was. At that point we were just going back and forth and i told them a few expletives and hung up. So from now on I'll be the one taking the car in to get serviced. But it will NEVER be to Jiffy Lube again.
