For years we’ve gone to the Wadsworth location and been happy. We felt we could trust the team to take care of our family vehicles, we bring four different cars there for service, multiple times a year.
However, I had a repair done for a new alternator in June 2025 and the rep, Derek, told me I had to go with a refurbished model due to one no longer being made for my car due to age. I didn’t want a refurbished unit I told him as I read on line they fail a high %.
I found new alternators at multiple locations, and for less than they were charging me for a refurbished one, but was told they couldn’t use those unless they bought them. So buy one. Honda also confirmed new models are still made for my vehicle year.
Derek assured me this replacement would last 7-10 years and it would outlast my owning the car, a Honda. My factory alternator had lasted eight years. I TRUSTED them to be honest with me as they see us all the time with one car or another. This never sat well with us and I always felt we were taken advantage of in the process for price and service.
In June 26, I took the car in for a full checkup, we do this about 2x a year, before leaving on vacation. The Manager, Bob, told me the car was in great condition and I’d have no problem driving to Hilton Head and back. We spent $1200 on new tires and other items at that visit.
Well, late in the evening, on the way home from SC, the alternator went out and the local Goodyear couldn’t help me as they said it was out of warranty by about 2,000 miles. This is the same alternator that should last 7-10 years per Derek at our store.
We found a new one, but they couldn’t get it without us being stuck there two more days, 8 hours from home. We had to go with another refurbished unit and that was close to $1,000. I called the Wadsworth store for help and was given phone #s for warranty repair work that were incorrect, even the warranty brochure was wrong. The other departments were closed on the weekend and couldn’t help us. We were stuck.
The BEST part? When we came back to see the manager at our location, Bob, who suddenly doesn’t call you back when there is a problem, even when you leave messages or when he says he will, he told me they would have honored it since it was “so close.”
In June 2025, we were forced into a piece of equipment that we didn’t want, we were overcharged, and then they have not engaged with us for two weeks after I stop in and call. I’ve repeatedly asked to speak to a man by the name of Doug who is over this store and I was told he could not help or call me because he is too busy rolling out a new inspection tool. I’ve been told this for weeks. He’s not IT, he’s the DM. He’s responsible for this location and the people who help us. I’d think he’d be concerned about this and want to take care of the issue.
We have spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this location over the years.
This feels like I went to Sears Automotive instead of Goodyear.
