- DWDouglas WestmillDec 11, 20185.0I went to Advanced Auto Parts this AM because my battery had failed. I went to the one near McCauley Drive in Uhrichsville, Oh. Steve helped me test the battery and we both came to the conclusion it was time for a replacement. I wanted a gold Optima. Even though Steve didn't have it in stock, he located a store along my route that would have it available when I would arrive. He talked to Andrea at the Stygler Road store in Columbus. Between the two, they made sure the battery ordered was correct fit and size for my vehicle. When I arrived at the Stygler Rd store, Andrea even helped me install it. The unique part of the story. Steve is 2 hours travel time away from Andrea. It would have been so easy for them to say the other store is not in my area, so I can't get it. Instead, they reached out across the corporate web site and called on the phone. Seems simple enough. However, so often I see where people are too silo'd to do the little things that can really make a difference. Thank you Uhrichsville Steve and Columbus Andrea 😁

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
