Very disappointed with the service extremely rude and disrespectful employee I had a very unpleasant experience at this Flying J because of an employee named Stephen. I ordered mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I asked Stephen to put them into the small round container they normally use for hot food. He put only one very small scoop, which barely filled the container. I politely asked if he could please add a little more because there was almost nothing in it. Instead of explaining the portion policy respectfully, he told me that if he added another scoop, “I will charge you twice.” I told him that this seemed unfair because at other Pilot and Flying J locations I normally receive a reasonable/full portion for the same type of purchase. I then simply asked him to add one more scoop. His response was extremely rude: “You don’t have to buy it. Nobody is forcing you.” I told him that this was disrespectful toward a customer and that he could have simply explained the policy politely. Instead, he continued speaking to me in a rude and disrespectful manner. When we went to the register, I asked for a bag. He threw the bag toward me instead of handing it to me normally. When I asked him why he was treating a customer this way, he pointed toward the door and repeatedly said, “The door is that way,” clearly telling me to leave. This is completely unacceptable customer service. Customers should not be treated with this kind of disrespect, especially when they are making a simple and polite request. I strongly recommend that management review this incident and take appropriate action regarding Stephen’s behavior. I hope management takes this complaint seriously because this kind of attitude damages the reputation of the entire Flying J location.

We always stop here on our way to Cincinnati. Staff is always polite, it’s clean, food tastes great and good sales on tobacco!

I visited this Flying J on the morning of July 23 at approximately 8:30 a.m. While checking out, I witnessed an employee named Sharon become visibly upset over what appeared to be a returned item. She threw the item toward the trash and loudly stated that “Josh needs to get fired.” Another employee, Brian, stepped in and calmly said, “I don’t think it was him. It must have been someone else.” Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, this was very unprofessional behavior to display in front of customers. Workplace disagreements should be handled privately, not on the sales floor where customers can hear and witness them. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I hope management addresses this and reminds employees to handle conflicts professionally. If someone is unable to control their temper while interacting in a customer-facing environment, they should not be handling customer service until the issue is resolved.
