- AAAmberAug 25, 20261.0Please do not order a part expecting the receive it. I went in Friday morning looking for a part. They did not have it in stock but said they would get it on their noon truck and would call me when it came in. By 1 I had not heard anything and so I called they said it did not come but should have it by their 2 o'clock truck and they would call. I had not heard anything by a little before 3 and so I called and they said their 4 o'clock truck snd they would call me back once they could look into it. At 410 I still had not heard anything so I called back. They said they would re add the order and have it by the next morning and call me. At 910 the next morning I had not heard anything so I called. They said they still did not receive it, they would need to look into it and get back to me. At this point I gave up and reached out to Ford who said they could have it the next day. The next day I went to Ford and picked up the part. As of today, Tuesday, I had yet to hear anything from Advance. I called them myself to request a refund and they stated I needed to come in for a refund or they could put it on a gift card. I get my little bit of money means nothing to a large corporation, their terrible customer service told me that, but the last thing I want is to be trapped into having to spend money with them again. Please think twice before paying for a part they say they can get because they will not get it, run you in circles and then make you go out of your way for a refund.

I have came in a few times this year and waited at an empty counter for a notable amount of time just to pickup and order. The people in the back don't help or communicate that customers are waiting. If you can't offer more timely service, customers will unfortunately go elsewhere.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
