I brought in my Tesla and was initially told, after measuring the tread, that I only needed two tires. I was then advised to replace all four because it was a Tesla/AWD, so I trusted their recommendation. I was charged $400 in “tire labor units” — $100 per tire — and told EV/Tesla tires were difficult to mount with their equipment. However, Tire Rack lists this exact location at $26.99 per tire for standard mounting and balancing in my tire category. If their equipment makes EV tires substantially more expensive to install, that should be disclosed upfront. I was also specifically told I would receive a $110 rebate, which influenced my purchase. After paying, I discovered the tires they sold me were not eligible. Bottom line: I was told I needed two tires, encouraged to buy four, charged $400 for installation, and promised a $110 rebate that didn’t apply. I recommend getting an itemized quote, verifying rebates yourself, and comparing installation prices — especially for a Tesla or EV.
