- TRThomas Ross4 days ago1.0Recently brought in a 2014 Ford Explorer that wouldn't start. The starter began smoking when turning the key. After about an hour of review, I was contacted by a Tire Discounters employee letting me know that I had a bad motor and would need "either a new motor, or a new car." The man I spoke with on the phone was "generous" enough to let me know that he had a guy that would be willing to give me scrap price for it. After paying an additional $150 to tow it somewhere else, they informed me that it was in fact the starter, and they charged me a little over $200 to replace it, and now I am back on the road. Either predatory business practice, or incompetence. Will not be returning.
