- AGAndrew Gray1 day ago2.0We ordered a kit 2 times and included a note stating the manufacturer website list this as available for preorder and shipping in 4-6 weeks. Both times we received a call stating it is not available to order, just as I mentioned in my notes, but they will check with their special order department to see if they can preorder to place a hold on the item and they will call me back to let me know. Never received this call back and they just cancelled the orders without informing a paying customer. Now they switched our account to a different location so I wouldn’t be contacting them when placing my orders without informing us. This is not good customer service. Update: We received a call from the manager explaining why this occurred. I appreciate the follow-up, but this information should have been relayed prior to the cancellation and account change.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
