    Reservation with National - 10:20 AM and no one at the counter. Directed to Enterprise counter with huge line??? Terrible customer service.

    Absolutely the worst! I am a travel rep using car rentals on a weekly basis at airports across the US. Previously I had left a parking permit In my rental, red hard plastic that goes over review mirror. I called as soon I traveled home and after multiple attempts to even get ahold of anyone they did not have it. It clearly stated $350 replacement on the tag. I let this slide as partially my fault. More recently as I am a frequent visitor to columbus airport I had turned in the car after having for less than 24 hours. Maybe 40 miles top on the vehicle. The guy inspecting claimed there was hail damage on the top of car. I could not even see it with the naked eye. Through my short visit there was not even a drop of rain. And obviously with 40 miles and a short rental I did not go somewhere there was rain. I laughed and thought it was a joke. He gave me a ticket to bring to the counter where the lady also laughed and told me she would void this out and there was nothing else I needed to do on my end. That this particular employee was giving tickets to many other customers and she is going to have to talk with him. I asked multiple times if I needed to do anything else on my end or if it would not be processed as a claim. She clearly let me know it will be voided and not claimed that I was good to go. Weeks later I received a bill for 1500 for hail damage and also noticed for some reason my corporate account is not linked. They are fighting with me left and right about the claim and having me do all the leg work to even get answers or try to have resolved. Sadly, after many years of loyalty to enterprise and National I will never be returning. If I had damaged the car I would handle the consequences and pay for the claim. I am not responsible for any damage to this vehicle and cannot be held accountable for something I had resolved. Or had confirmation I resolved upon returning the vehicle.

    National is no longer a reputable car rental option standing by customer service with stable experience by location. Save your money and go for the cheap alternative.

    Absolutely horrible customer service. We accidentally turned the wrong way and simply asked for directions. The gate agent became confrontational and threatened to cancel our rental. He then contacted his supervisor and claimed that we had called him an “asshole” and stated that there was video evidence of the incident. When we spoke with management, no video was shown to us, our rental was not canceled, and no evidence was provided to support the accusation. Despite the situation escalating unnecessarily, no apology was offered. We requested the employee’s name and information so that we could file a formal complaint. That request was ignored. Instead, management seemed to imply that because we denied the accusation, there was no issue to address. That is simply not acceptable. I understand customer-facing jobs can be stressful, but professionalism and respect should still be expected. False accusations, threats to cancel a customer’s rental, and a complete lack of accountability from management created an extremely negative experience. Very disappointing customer service from both the employee and management. However the car itself is clean and filled with gas, so we can appreciate that. (Thanks Alamo)

    We returned a rental car to National car rental at Columbus airport. The process was smooth and easy, but as we arrived at the airport, we realized that we had left a roller bag in the trunk. Oh no! I jumped on the shuttle back to the rental car facility, searched for the car we had just dropped off, but it was already gone. In a panic, I ran to an employee who was very kind and helpful. They radioed down to where the cars get cleaned, and my bag was returned to me within 10 minutes. I was impressed.
