I've lived in Sayville my entire life. Even though I had never used Sayville Truck Shop before, I decided to give them a chance because they've been in business for over 50 years. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a shop. I brought in all four of my custom forged beadlock wheels, which aren't even a year old, with brand new Nitto 555R tires that were already mounted and balanced. The only issue was a small leak at beadlock rings. The owner, Paul, told me it wasn't a problem at all and said they do work on beadlocks, so I felt comfortable leaving them there. He also mentioned that his tire guy only works Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and maybe Saturday. I told him that was perfectly fine because I wasn't in any rush. I just wanted the job done the right way. About a week later Paul called me and said everything was finished and ready to be picked up. He specifically told me over the phone that if I paid cash it would be $450 flat with no tax. I thought $450 was pretty expensive for what I needed done, but I figured I was paying for quality work so I didn't argue. When I got there Paul wasn't around and an older gentleman was working the counter. He told me the wheels had been remounted and balanced, which was never discussed and definitely wasn't something they were asked to do. Then I stood there for almost 20 minutes while they searched through piles of scattered paperwork trying to find my ticket. Once they finally found it, the older gentleman told me the cash price with no tax wasn't true and that my total was over $480 after tax. I explained that Paul specifically quoted me $450 cash out the door and that's exactly what I brought with me. After going back and forth for a minute, he finally accepted the $450. Then we went into the side garage to get my wheels. The area was filthy, dusty, and covered in grease. My wheels were just sitting there with tires stacked on top of them like they were being used as coffee tables. They were dirtier than when I dropped them off. As I started loading them into my truck I immediately noticed that three of my four wheels had deep gouges all around the inside barrels. These are brand new custom forged wheels and the damage was impossible to miss. I pointed it out and asked what equipment they used. The response I got was, "All the arms have plastic feet." Plastic feet don't leave millimeter-deep gouges in forged aluminum. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of damage. To make things even worse, when I asked for a receipt I was told, "We don't give receipts for cash." That alone should tell you everything you need to know. I left because it was obvious nobody there was going to take responsibility. Now I'm left with a nearly $6,000 set of custom beadlocks that look like Freddy Krueger mounted the tires. I honestly can't recommend this place to anyone. Just because a business has been around for over 50 years doesn't mean they still care about the quality of their work or their customers. In my opinion, they were careless with my property, took no responsibility for damaging it, and handled the whole situation unprofessionally from start to finish. Please think twice before bringing anything valuable here. Oh, and one last thing. Knock before you open the front door unless you want to find out how fast their dog can get to you. Trust me, it's probably faster than both of us.
