  I had a disappointing experience with the Valvoline Instant Oil Change on W. Genesee Street in Camillus. Before driving there, I called specifically to ask whether they could recharge the A/C in my 2021 Ram 1500. The employee told me it would be no problem and confirmed that the location closed at 7:30 p.m. At no point was I told that an A/C recharge takes approximately 30 minutes or that they stop accepting this service before the posted closing time. I arrived around 7:15 p.m. and waited in line until approximately 7:20–7:25. I understand that arriving 15 minutes before closing does not leave enough time for a 30-minute service. Had that been explained when I called, I would have come earlier or scheduled my visit for another day. Instead, I made an unnecessary trip based on the information I was given. What made the experience more upsetting was hearing an employee say, “Buddy thought he was getting an A/C recharge,” followed by chuckling as I pulled away. I had called ahead specifically to avoid this type of situation, so being mocked for expecting the service I was told they could provide felt disrespectful and unprofessional. My concern is not that the service could not be completed before closing. It is that the time requirement was never communicated and that an employee made an unnecessary remark afterward. Customers cannot be expected to know the length of every service or an unposted cutoff time. I expect a response from management regarding how this situation was handled, particularly the employee’s comment. Clearer communication and respectful treatment would have prevented this entire experience.
