- TTThe TroutOct 9, 20261.0Worst advance auto store I've ever been to. Nothing is urgent for the employees and they lack major understanding of there own computer system. I hate needing to visit this store. Ballston Spa store is much better with way better employees who actually care about helping the customer especially in a timely manner. Whoever runs the Saratoga store needs to be replaced.

Looked it up for me, and it said online that this lightbulb was nonreplaceable. So she took the time to come out to the parking lot to look at my car and look at the light And was Extremely helpful the whole time, And she determine that the lightbulb could actually be replaced and gave me the right lightbulb and it worked great. Amazing customer service you really don’t see a lot of.
- SWStephen WireSep 13, 20265.0My visit should be put in the books as an example of amazing customer service story. Both the store and employee, Rennie, were awesome and got me back on the road. I was 12 hours from home on a holiday weekend and had a wheel bearing go out, metal on metal grinding! My options were to be stuck for at least 2 more days and then hope a shop would fit me in or do the repair myself. The weather was warm but a nice day. Rennie's calm demeanor and helpful attitude helped relieve my own stress. He went out of his way to help, in both finding the correct parts and with loaner tools. Thankfully the loaner tools were in the store that day. Rennie came out and checked on me a couple times to make sure I was ok and to see if I needed anything else. He even brought out something to drink as I had spent the entire afternoon on a warm day trying to get the repairs done. Advance Auto has always treated me right. The 179 Ballston Ave store in Saratoga Springs took that to a whole new level. Great job Advance Auto and Rennie. Rennie should be given a bonus and be used by corporate in lessons on excellent customer service, including how to project calmness and confidence when a customer might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

He correctly diagnosed an issue with my battery for free (which another technician did not pick up and thought it was an alternator issue), and installed the battery for me right away on the spot. Kelly (I believe was her name) who was working inside the store was super friendly and kind as well and helped me identify a coupon I had to save money on my purchase which I otherwise wouldn’t have known about. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
