What a wonderful experience! I bought my first Subaru yesterday: a 2025 Outback Touring Edition in Autumn green. I feel like I'm driving some billionaire's car ! It's exquisite!
My salesman is Mark Silverstein, and I felt immediately comfortable with him. I went to East Hills Subaru in Roslyn because my parents bought their Subaru Forester at East Hills in 2015, and raved about how well they were taken care of, and because my Subaru-owning friend had done the research on Subarus and Subaru dealerships, and East Hills Subaru was number 1 on Long Island in terms of fair pricing, great buying experience, AND best support after purchase.
Still, I was not prepared for the incredible experience of buying a car there.
I am female and a nurse, and my friend is a financial executive and male. We went together to East Hills, and looked at the cars in the showroom. I had my Consumer Reports car review edition in my hands.
My friend started speaking with Mark Silverstein while I listened, and Mark effortlessly shifted his attention to me, and explained all the models and the different editions of the Outback and the Forester. I have to admit, my heart sank as I thought about whether I could afford a Subaru at all. Mark listened, and said that the business manager, Sol Park, might be able to help me find a financing agreement that I would be comfortable with.
I didn't buy on the spot, and went home and researched East Hills and Subaru models. Then I went on East Hills Subaru in Roslyn, searched their inventory, and found a diamond: a 2025 Subaru Touring Edition in the color I wanted, with 5400 miles on it. Mark had stayed in touch with me during the week, so when I found my dream car, he said that there were other interested buyers. He suggested leaving a fully refundable deposit on the car to hold it. I did, and my friend and I went back there yesterday.
Sol Park is a very approachable guy, and he explained that he would try to find a bank that would offer a financing solution. He worked his magic, and Chase offered a comfortable loan with a down payment I could afford in real time.
Meanwhile, Mark had the car cleaned, detailed, and gassed up (!) for free, and spoke to the insurance company on the phone to get insurance coverage, and did his magic with DMV to get the car registered and had plates ready, for the price of the registration alone.
Within a couple of hours, I had made a down payment with my debit card, and Sol found a financing agreement that I could easily afford. Mark made sure I could get the car serviced for as little as possible, moving forward.
BTW, the My Subaru Safety Plus and the My Subaru Security Plus is amazing and completely worth it. ($49 together!)
I found myself in the car of my dreams, driving off the lot, feeling like I had won Grand Auto! I honestly don't know how East Hills Subaru does it!
