How to do justice to a hometown mechanic. I have been to Vals throughout many years. My 2020 Mazda was in no need to have any repairs until the ambient sensor stopped working ,that results in no air-conditioning. I took it to the dealership( foolish I know - why you ask)) they told it was $3500.00 to fix the AC. Vals knew there was a service memo out on this year Mazda to replace the ambient sensor. hummmmmm, VAL knew Mazda didn't.?!! Fixed in no time by Vals for 350.00 1/10 of the other guy, I have my A/C back. with my allegiance to a family business.

Andrew and his guys have been wonderful with my 180k mile mini van that definitely needs a lot of attention now. Always honest and great prices esp for women and minorities. Highly recommend.

I have taken my car to Vail for over a decade and trust their work completely! They are courteous and fair, and always manage to fit me in their schedule. Their central location in the south wedge is also super convenient.

I stopped in to get some air in my tires and ask for a quote to get the exhaust tightened on my classic, diesel Mercedes. The two gentlemen working in the garage were friendly and said to pull up for air. The one with blue eyes pet my dog and advised me to get inside to speak with Andrew about it. (I think that was his name.) When I walked too far around the corner, the mechanic came over and showed me how to enter the office. I thought that was very kind of him rather than just yelling and pointing! However, this is where my experience went south. The owner (or son of the owner) was neither friendly nor helpful. He didn’t greet me when I entered or smile like his employee did. He told me that my 300D was too hard to work on hard to find parts for, neither of which is true. I explained I wasn’t looking for a new mechanic, I just needed the exhaust to stop rattling, yet he carried on about what a pain my car was! He said it was nothing personal, lol. I would have believed that had he greeted me when I entered his shop or gave me a recommendation to a diesel mechanic or simply someone not as lazy and unhelpful as him. I advised him that going forward, 300Ds are super easy to work on. (I even do some jobs myself; I just don’t have the time right now nor a proper workspace living in an apartment.) I told him my mechanic in Tennessee never had a hard time finding new or used parts, and that FCP Auto Parts is a killer website as are junk yards. Still, he wanted nothing to do with my business. I specifically stopped there rather than going to be a bigger company, because I wanted to support a mom and pop shop. The interaction left a very bad taste in my mouth.
