I was visiting my mom from out of town and her car battery died at 730pm. Jump starting the car during these freezing temperatures was stressful enough. I was just about to go home but didn’t want to leave my elderly mom stranded with a dead battery in the middle of the winter. Once I got a successful jump, I desperately called this location and asked if it was too late to get a battery installed. They didn’t give me any issues at all and were so beyond friendly on the phone and told me to come in. Seriously when I tell you it is so cold outside my hands would freeze being out for just a minute. The guy at the counter not only explained what likely happened to my car and the battery but he also really took the time to help me install the battery. I know advance auto parts installs batteries as a convenience to the customers at no charge but the weather was truly brutal and I felt so bad. I didn’t have much at all but I gave the guy all the money in my wallet because he literally saved me and they were SO nice about it. They both need to be recognized by management! Thank you both so much!!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
