Brought my car in at Mavis in Port Chester to see what my tire light kept coming on and turns out I had a screw in my tire. The guys hat Mavis were able to take it out and plug it up. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Great service!

Very disappointed with the pricing and lack of transparency
I recently had a very disappointing experience with the Mavis location in Port Chester, NY.
Before making my appointment, I went to the Mavis website to check the price and look for coupons for an oil change. I saw a $30-off coupon. Since the website indicated that pricing could vary by store, I called the local location directly to confirm the price. I was told over the phone that the regular price for my oil change, before any coupons or promotions, would be $118, and that this included the oil filter and labor.
Based on that information, I scheduled the appointment online and brought my vehicle to the store. While I was there, I also requested a tire rotation and was told that it would be free of charge. I also had a New York State safety inspection performed, which I understood to be $10 for my relatively new vehicle.
Based on everything I had been told, I expected my total to be approximately $105–$110, after applying the $30 coupon to the $118 oil change, adding the $10 inspection and applicable tax.
Instead, I was initially presented with a bill of $158.49 before tax, which came to approximately $170.92 with tax.
When I questioned the amount, I was told that the oil filter for my vehicle had to be specially ordered and that the filter alone cost $30.47. This was particularly surprising because I had specifically called the store beforehand and was quoted $118 including the oil filter and labor. I was not informed beforehand that there would be an additional filter charge.
The clerk did apply the $30 coupon and an additional $15 discount, but my final bill was still $122.16, which was significantly different from what I was led to expect when I called and scheduled the service.
My biggest concern isn't simply the difference in price. It's the lack of clear and transparent pricing. If the quoted $118 did not include the actual filter required for my vehicle, that should have been clearly explained when I called. If there were additional charges, I should have been informed and given the opportunity to approve them before the work was completed.
I also still have questions about exactly how the inspection and other charges were calculated and whether taxes were applied correctly.
Overall, I left feeling that the pricing was misleading and that the final cost was not consistent with the information I was given beforehand. I would strongly recommend getting a written, itemized estimate and confirming every additional charge before authorizing service at this location.
I hope Mavis reviews how pricing is communicated to customers because this experience seriously damaged my confidence in the store.
