    Had a terrible experience at the Battery Park location today. I reserved a car under my name with my driver’s license. When I arrived, the staff member Romeo told me I needed a valid flight ticket since I was paying with a debit card. I understood and went back to my hotel to get my physical card (Apple Pay not accepted), which took 30 minutes. When I returned and showed him my flight ticket, he suddenly said the flight had to depart the same day I returned the car—a requirement he never mentioned initially and that doesn’t appear in Sixt’s rental terms. His tone was dismissive and unhelpful throughout. Had he been clear from the start, I simply could have retrieved my credit card instead. Instead, I wasted 30 minutes on his unclear requirements, and when he refused to work with me, I had to cancel the rental and take an Uber for $440 in transportation costs. Romeo seemed more interested in refusing the rental than helping us solve the problem. I’ve rented from Sixt multiple times without issues, but this location provided shockingly poor service. Very disappointed.

    I had a nice rental experience at this location. Special thanks to Enrique, who was friendly, personable, and very helpful. The information and tips he gave me were accurate and genuinely useful, and both pickup and return were smooth and easy. One thing I appreciated was their flat-rate E-ZPass option. It covered all of my tolls for the day, which made driving around New York much less stressful. The location (20 Morris St.) worked well for me, though it may be more convenient if you’re already in Lower Manhattan. One tip for future renters: avoid the BP station near 23rd Street along the FDR when refueling before returning your car. It’s a full-service station and noticeably more expensive than other nearby gas stations. Overall, a very positive experience, and I’d happily rent from this location again.

    Staff was super nice but the after hours drop off directions are a total mess - I lost 90 minutes of my life (which at 10pm is very important) - first they don’t explain you can go to a Washington OR Greenwich street location so when gps auto brings you to Washington and then you do wild navigation bc of battery tunnel and west side highway to get to Greenwich it’s pretty frustrating. Then they say drop off is on 6th floor but you actually have to cross over the roof to get to one side of the 6th floor and then they say drop the keys in the lobby but the lobby is 2nd floor which isn’t specified and you have to take a very specific elevator to get to the right lobby or you end up in another part of the parking garage and you have to go all the way back up to go down again. Thank god for the security guard who did not work for Sixt and was just being nice. I’m fine if it’s complicated but they should have explained more in the directions. It’s freaky being in a parking garage late at night, following the directions to a T and it not being right causing you to walk all around.

    We rented a car from this location, and Biony gave us the finest service I have ever received. I have rented cars for two decades, all over the world. Biony is hands down the best rental representative I have met. Before we switched to our upgrade, he went and inspected the car himself. He made sure it was in immaculate condition first. The experience was seamless. We were out the door in twenty minutes, with car seats and EZ Pass already installed. There was no friction when our reserved car fell through. No friction when we added car seats at the last minute. It was a walk in the park, thanks to Biony.

    I booked the "Peace of Mind" package for my road trip, but unfortunately, after having a minor accident, it felt like anything but peace of mind at first. The initial process was highly stressful. I had to call the hotline and staff wasn't helpful, a replacement car wasn't ready, and we had to hire a transportation service to get to the nearest pickup spot over an hour away due to lost details and miscommunication. We didn't receive any information and that was very stressful if you only have a few days vacation.The stress followed me back to Europe, where I received a confusing letter from a third party.SIXT however admitted that it was a mistake. The claims department took 3 months to close the rental leaving me without any details and refunds. However, everything changed once I finally got in touch with a manager. They immediately cleared things up. The management offered professional assistance and swift solutions. Within just a few days of speaking to them, my refunds were processed and the insurance covered the accident. While the customer claims department desperately needs improvement to avoid these kinds of mistakes and long delays, the management handled the final resolution perfectly. Despite all the hassle, their excellent recovery earned them all 5 stars from me! The job was done!If you pay for peace of mind, you should get peace of mind, otherwise it's fraud. Stop with the hidden - small print and charge for the provided insurance packages, but also offer this service without endless discussions after an accident occurs.
