- SBSarah BeecherApr 19, 20261.0Havnt had an issue here until now. Turned a simple oil change into a 3 trip nightmare. The guy working the counter grabbed my oil i definitely should have checked before leaving so that's my fault i will admit. The next day doing my oil change trip number one was to pick up a new oil filter wrench ok that was fine. Trip number two was because I realized the guy at the counter gave me 0w-16 and 0w-20 oil the day before. I just needed 0w-20 oil. When I brought it back and another guy grabbed the "right" oil I knew something was wrong but couldn't figure it out. On questioning him his response was "you wanted 0w-20 this is 0w-20." I said whatever and took the oil. Got home and started taking the cap off and realized it was the same oil but dexos-D and not dexos-1. I could have a seriously messed up truck if I wasn't paying attention. Decided it was better to drive the extra 5 minutes to go to South Glens Falls.

Does Advance Auto test and install batteries?
Yes we do offer free battery installation on most products with purchase. We will also recycle and test your battery for free regardless if you bought it from us. Battery testing and installation is available at most of our locations.

What are the signs of a bad car battery?
Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
