- KMkatie mommaAug 25, 20261.0Our Auto insurance company recommended and arranged for safelight to repair our rear window replacement on our VW Jetta Sportwagen. Adam our technician called the morning of our appointment saying we were his second stop and would be to us by 11am at the latest. When 11:30 came around with no word from him I called and he said he was on his way and would be there in an hour. He arrived 12:30, was polite, and started our repair. A half hour later he informed me he has never done a repair on a VW and that he broke our wiper arm taking it off to remove the broken glass. Next he tried to say he could not apply new glass claiming the back hatch was rusted through where the glass would sit. One look and it was easy to tell that was untrue. But I’m a woman. So I told him I would ask my son to come out who works on cars and machines regularly to check it. My son came out and pointed out that indeed there was a small amount of surface rust that would clean right up to shiny metal. Adam changed his tune and said he would “try” cleaning it up. (It cleaned up fine) He applied the new glass, it was taking a long time so I went out to check on the progress and he informed me he was getting ready to leave and that I had to sign off that had disassembled the entire back hatch and wiper motor and was leaving it in pieces in the trunk because he couldn’t figure out how to put it all back together. At this point it had been 2 hrs and I didn’t want him to break anything else so I signed off and went back inside while he cleaned up and left. My husband came home shortly after and went to check the car. We found that he put the glass on crooked. Also, not only did he break pieces, leave everything in unassembled he didn’t even clean the LARGE SHARDS of broken glass out of the hatch or off the driveway. He left glass EVERYWHERE. My husband reassembled the wiper motor and hatch within 15min. It was not a hard job. It was a very unprofessional experience from start to finish. Adam has a lot to learn and we will definitely not recommend or use Safelite in the future.
