  Windshield Replacement: My insurance covers, with no deductible, but just for generic glass. I was willing to pay the difference for OEM glass, which I found to be only approx $150 more than generic in a quick cost comparison from an online auto parts supplier. The additional cost at Safelite—over $400! Of course I was not thrilled, but agreed anyway as I've never been happy with generic glass in the past. Problem #1 after new glass installed: Discovered tiny shards of glass all over front seats, dash, steering wheel and armrests. This I cleaned myself, not wanting to deal with the hassle of taking the car back and complaining. Problem #2: The rain sensor, located in the base of the interior rear view mirror, looked shattered. This issue I brought back to Safelite for resolution—I was told that rain sensor is difficult/impossible to find replacement part, no longer made. Even if they were willing to replace, (which implies they were not), they likely wouldn't be able to obtain the necessary part. Knowing this fact, as they apparently do, shouldn't the technician have been more diligent in removing the sensor so as not to do any damage? Final answer was nothing they could/would do about it, and it was between me and my insurance company if I had an issue with that.

  Brought my 2024 in three times for a windshield replacement. First time in ynevfed they couldn’t calibrate. So I had to bring it In and again they couldn’t calibrate. So they said they had to order a VW windshield and had to comeback. Third time I went back they spent the first hour and a half trying to calibrate the aftermarket they installed in the first place and told me I needed to install a VW windshield which was the reason I was there first on the third visit. So I had to wait another hour and a 1/2 to install the windshield again and again they couldn’t calibrate. I asked why and the reason I got from the tech was it was too hard to calibrate. So three visits and I still have to go to the dealership to get the windshield calibrated. Horrible experience. And to top it all off after the third visit they didn’t even bother to clean the windshield. I left and the windshield was filthy. It’s not like I have an exotic car it’s a Tiguan with no accidents. If they specialize in windshields why does it take three visits and still no resolution.
