Be very very careful . They are known to tell you very quickly you need a new tire . They are not trustworthy at all . Countless stories of tires that could be fixed with patch or plug told new tire needed . I will never go there unless u definitely need a new tire period . Do not get scammed . They are also very pricy. They should be your last option only..

In a world that has forgotten about customer service, Angelo stands alone. Friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. He explained all the work needed, even down to the estimated time of completion. It’s also his coworkers, they all seem to have a fantastic work ethic here. I wish I could give more than the 5 Stars. I will never use another Mavis as long as he is here in Great Neck.

I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing ANY repairs at Mavis Discount Tire in Great Neck.
I came in for a routine NYS inspection. Everything was fine until after the inspection, when I was suddenly told that my tires had essentially no tread left and that my brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. Almost immediately, they began trying to get me to schedule the repairs with them.
One of the tires they claimed was low on tread was literally brand new.
When I declined the repairs, I was told, and I quote, “You have an expensive car, you need to spend the money.” I'm 20 years old and drive a base-model BMW. The fact that the type of car I drive was even brought up while trying to convince me to spend money on repairs was a huge red flag.
I respectfully started asking questions about the brakes because what I was being told did not make sense. The more questions I asked, the more questionable the explanation became. I specifically brought up the fact that my BMW monitors brake-pad wear and can provide a warning when the pads reach the wear sensor. I was essentially told that wasn't the case. When I continued asking completely reasonable questions, suddenly I was accused of being “rude.”
What made the entire experience even more concerning was what happened afterward. I went to another shop down the road about 20 minutes later and had everything checked again. I was told my brakes were fine. They also confirmed what I had been saying about the vehicle's brake warning system.
On top of that, Mavis quoted me approximately $1,300 for the brake/rotor work they claimed I needed.
I understand that shops make money by performing repairs, and if my car genuinely needs something, I have no problem paying to have it fixed. What I have a problem with is being pressured into expensive repairs, having the price of my car used as justification for spending money, being given information that doesn't add up, and then being called rude when I politely question it.
Based on my experience, I walked away feeling like they saw a young guy pull up in a BMW and assumed I wouldn't know enough about cars to question what I was being told.
Fortunately, they made that assumption with the wrong customer.
If you come here for an inspection and are suddenly presented with a large repair bill, get a second opinion before paying for anything. I did, and I'm very glad I did.
