After the replacement, I noticed stress cracks in the actual windshield glass around the front camera housing area. The cracks were not immediately obvious because the windshield was dirty and had suction-cup impressions on it. I first noticed the cracks when the lighting made them more visible, at which point I also noticed an issue with the camera housing/cover.
I am concerned that these cracks may have resulted from the windshield replacement or the work performed around the camera assembly. Safelite had to access this area during the replacement, and I believe the circumstances surrounding the service warrant a thorough investigation before responsibility is assigned.
I dropped my vehicle off overnight before the scheduled service and spent much of the following day calling Safelite to follow up on the status of my vehicle. Despite leaving the car the night before, the work was not completed until approximately 8:30 p.m. I ultimately retrieved my vehicle after hours, when no employees were present.
Because nobody was there when I picked up my vehicle, I had no opportunity to speak with an employee, review the condition of the windshield and camera area with a representative, or ask questions about any damage allegedly identified before the work began.
No one informed me when my vehicle was returned that there was a crack in the camera housing or advised me of any pre-existing damage. I was not given an opportunity to discuss or acknowledge any such damage at pickup.
The windshield was also dirty and had suction-cup impressions, making it difficult to clearly assess the glass. I subsequently noticed the cracks in camera bed housing when the lighting made them more visible.
When I contacted Safelite about the cracks, I was told that there were notes indicating that a crack in the camera housing was already present before the windshield replacement. However, I was never informed of this alleged damage when my vehicle was returned. The Farmingdale location manager was very rude and not at all helpful I would never go to this location again.
When I requested to see the documentation supporting this claim, the store and store manager refused to provide it. I was also told that there were no photographs of the damage on record.
I find it concerning that Safelite is relying on alleged pre-existing damage to dispute responsibility while refusing to show me the documentation supporting that position. If this damage was identified before the work began, I want to know exactly what was recorded, when it was recorded, and how the condition was documented.
A notation in an internal record does not, by itself, resolve my concerns about the cause of the stress cracks in the actual windshield glass. I am requesting a fair investigation based on the available evidence, rather than an assumption that I am responsible for the damage.
I contacted Safelite corporate customer service and opened a complaint regarding this matter. I was advised that a district manager would review the issue and contact me.
Despite following up multiple times, I have not received the promised callback. I called again and was told that the district manager was offline, that he was the only person authorized to handle my complaint, and that no one else was available to assist me.
I should not have to repeatedly chase Safelite for a response to a complaint involving potential damage to my vehicle following a paid service. The lack of communication, combined with the refusal to provide the requested inspection documentation, has made it unnecessarily difficult to resolve this matter.
My company vehicle had a crack in the windshield and they arranged for my appointment at Safelight. I asked for the tech to remove and save various windshield mounts I had for my dash camera and EZpass and alarm antenna and car wash sticker. Not only did they retain them but the tech actually re-installed them in the same place on the new windshield. I was not expecting them to do that. THAT'S GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!

I am very dissatisfied with my experience at Safelite. My windshield was installed incorrectly and pieces of my car were damaged to do laziness and poor workmanship. It’s concerning the tech thought it was acceptable to return my car in this condition. I received my car with chunks of black glue through the interior window frame, wires hanging, screw covers not replaced, and the compartment that holds my rearview mirror damaged and not installed correctly. I made a second appointment to have the issues addressed. I dropped my car off at 9AM and then received a call at 1:29PM that my car was ready for pickup and that I had an hour to pick up my car because the location was closing early at 2:30PM. When I dropped off my car that morning, I was told my car would be ready between 4PM and 5PM. When I arrived to the location I was told my car couldn’t be fixed that day and I would have to come back. This was after my car was at the location for hours. After my experience, I am not comfortable with this location touching my car again and am still waiting on a solution. I do not recommend Safelite. They are incompetent, lazy, rude, and don’t take accountability for their poor workmanship.

I came to pick up my car after the repair, and as I was driving away, my rearview mirror fell out. I immediately went back and was told it would only take a couple of minutes to put it back in, but I ended up waiting over an hour.
UPDATE: I later found out that they actually BROKE the piece that holds my rearview mirror during the repair. Instead of telling me what happened and taking accountability before I left, they allowed me to drive away without saying anything. I didn’t realize the piece was broken until I started hearing a loud, constant vibrating noise coming from the rearview mirror.
What disappoints me the most is the lack of honesty and communication. Accidents happen, but they could have simply told me they broke the piece and explained how they planned to fix it. Instead, I had to discover the problem myself after leaving. The way this was handled honestly made me feel like they were hoping I would just leave and never realize the piece had been broken, so they wouldn’t have to take accountability or make any additional repairs. Whether that was actually their intention or not, that is exactly how the situation came across to me.
Now I’m being told that I have to wait for an OEM windshield to come in, meaning I’m stuck driving around with this loud vibrating noise for the foreseeable future because of damage that happened while my car was in their care.
This entire situation could have been handled so differently with basic honesty, communication, and accountability. HORRIBLE customer service and an extremely disappointing experience. The repair was done by Matthew.
0 stars isn’t an option for review unfortunately. I dropped my car off and was told it would take up to 2 hours. I went back after an hour and 45 minutes to see my car still sitting in the parking lot untouched. I had an appointment for when I dropped it off but apparently that means nothing. Can’t speak for the quality of repairs, but they certainly have no respect for their customers time. Without even any communication or warning that there were delays. Terrible experience.
Updating to respond to owner: I actually did have an appointment. Which it said in my original review.
