I went in this morning for a battery check and a power steering flush and new power steering fluid to be added because my fluid was low and dark. I was told by the owner/manager that my power steering was leaking. He quoted me $1600 to fix the power steering leak and said that price is only “if there aren’t more problems”. I’m guessing with this shop there are usually “more problems”. Leaving the door open for more charges if I had gone ahead with the power steering repair. The owner admittedly couldn’t tell me what part was exactly leaking, but he said there was a leak based on the area being wet with a liquid. The owner tried showing me the wet area where the power steering leak is supposed to be with his flashlight is indicative of a leak problem but I also noticed that the mechanic working on my car had my oil canister slightly unscrewed and so my engine oil was dripping on the shop floor. I had not asked for that engine oil canister to be touched or unscrewed as I had just gotten that done a few days ago and it was perfectly fine. The owner abruptly ordered the mechanic to screw the oil canister back in and the engine oil dripping finally stopped. Who knows how much engine oil I lost between the time the mechanic unscrewed the canister and when the owner ordered him to screw it back in. That annoyed me. I started thinking did the mechanic take some of that dripping engine oil and smother the area where I was told there was a power steering leak to convince me that there was an actual leak there. I can’t be 100% sure that is what he did to be deceptive, but the fact is I certainly didn’t ask for that engine oil canister to be touched or unscrewed at all. Don’t you check engine oil with a dip stick? That much I do know. The oil canister was brand new! Only a few days old. I said from the beginning battery and power steering check only, not remove the engine oil canister and let it drip. Guys, I’m not saying never come here for anything but be very wary of them doing this to convince you that something is leaking. It felt very shady to me. Go to this Mavis shop at your own risk, but I won’t be returning and I cannot recommend it after this visit.

I went in to get my headlight replaced. I was anticipating a bit of a wait given that it was a Sunday afternoon, but I was swiftly taken care of. Angel replaced my headlight. Everyone I encountered, from phone calls inquiring about service, to receiving the service, were so friendly and helpful.

I’m actually surprised by how quick and on point they were with their appointments. I had a bad experience with Pep Boys, so I was skeptical about getting service from another big chain.
My car was on the lift by 8:00 a.m. Even after I had to go back and get my wheel lock, I was out of there by 9:00 a.m. with four new tires installed.
The staff was very pleasant, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations.
