It is a pleasure to give Amherst Car Care Center my very highest recommendation! The owner, Larry, takes excellent care of our family's vehicles. I won't go anywhere else because he is so honest and his work is so thorough - there's never any "gotcha" additions like at many other places. Larry truly treats his customer like we are family and he genuinely cares about our safety and well-being. He will tell me if something needs to be done right away for safety's sake; other times he will give me a sense of when the work should be done. I feel extremely safe and secure with Larry's work - I would never go anywhere else!

We brought my son’s car in for an inspection, two new tires, an oil change and also to get the transmission flushed. Our son is young, it’s his first car, and for some reason thought it was a CVT transmission. Okay fine, Larry wasn’t there that day and this guy Tom runs the shop when Larry is not there. Tom said okay, we’ll flush and fill the CVT transmission.
Tom called and said it was ready, we came back, paid the bill and it was only 89.99 for the CVT transmission drain and fill, which I thought was low, but OK, we paid the bill and left. (See picture of receipt below)
A couple months later we went to Valvoline for a quick oil change and I asked the Valvoline guy to check the CVT transmission fluid. Well, the Valvoline guy said this is not a CVT transmission, this is a standard transmission. He said the fluid was black muck. I thought this was weird because we had just got the CVT flushed and were charged for at Amherst Car Care.
We then took the car to another mechanic, someone we know, farther away, and asked him to flush the transmission. He did a regular transmission flush and it was a little over $300. He said the old transmission fluid was black, and it was a good thing that we changed it because the car has over 100,000 miles on it.
To sum it up; Amherst Car Care Tom lied to us, said he changed the CVT transmission fluid, and charged us for it. Yet he did nothing at all regarding the transmission. A CVT flush would have cost 300 normally, yet he only charged 89.99. But the worse thing, is he gave our son the false confidence that the transmission was flushed, and it wasn’t, which could have led to a catastrophic failure had we not found out that we were charged and nothing was done.

Great service at very reasonable price. I had an issue that prevented me from highway driving, I stopped in without an appointment and was able to pick up my repaired car just a few hours later. Very knowledgeable and easy to deal with.

I do not have enough good words to say about this place. Quality work. Fair prices. There is a famous question posed in business: what is the tone at the top? The tone of the top at Amherst Car Care is competency and HONESTY. It permeates the owner and travels down to the employees. In the auto repair industry I challenge you to find these two virtues in the shop's owner. You will find them here. Kudos and thank you!
