⭐ 1 Star I am extremely disappointed with my experience with SIXT and will not be renting from this company again. I returned the vehicle in the same condition it was given to me. I did not hit a curb, hit another vehicle, or have any type of accident or incident with the vehicle. I am a very careful driver and know with absolute certainty that I did not damage the wheel. When I returned the vehicle, I parked it in the designated area and went inside because I needed to be reimbursed for batteries I had purchased for the rental. I handed the employee the keys and then took the airport shuttle. There was no walk-around inspection performed with me and nobody told me there was any damage when I returned the vehicle. Then, after the rental, I received a claim for an alleged scratch on a wheel and was told I could be responsible for $416. What is especially concerning is that the amount is apparently based on an estimate rather than an actual repair bill. An estimate could be higher than the actual cost of the repair, yet they are still attempting to hold me responsible for that amount. Even more concerning, the photo provided as evidence does not appear to clearly establish that the wheel pictured is the wheel from the vehicle I rented. I have disputed the claim and asked SIXT to provide actual documentation showing the vehicle’s condition before and after my rental, evidence that the damage occurred during my rental, and documentation supporting the $416 charge. I have also still not received reimbursement for the batteries I purchased. After looking into other customer experiences, I found numerous recent reports from people describing similar disputes involving alleged damage, particularly scratches to wheels/rims and unexpected damage charges. That made my experience even more concerning. I am not claiming that every SIXT rental ends this way, but based on my personal experience, I would strongly recommend thoroughly photographing and videoing EVERY part of the vehicle—including all four wheels—before driving away and again when returning it. I know what happened during my rental, and I know I did not damage that vehicle. I shouldn’t have to prove that I didn’t do something when SIXT cannot provide clear evidence that I did. I will not be renting from SIXT again.

BE CAREFUL! I was warned by another customer to take a video of the rental car prior to taking it off the lot. He told me that SIXT had tried to charge him for damage to vehicles in the past. I am glad I took a video because upon returning the vehicle, the attendant told me there were 'scuffs' and a bent license plate she had to report as new damage. I pulled out my phone and reviewed the video with her and showed her that the scuffs and bent license plate were clearly pre-existing. She said the damage was not previously registered by SIXT. I asked how they register the damage since it was clear it existed previously and I showed her the video to confirm. She said it was up to SIXT to document the damage. She then gave me a device to sign that said 3 new damage reports. I again asked her why she put this down when I showed her the video confirming the 2 scuffs and bent license plate were preexisting. She said I just needed to sign it and I made sure to put a comment prior to signing (in the customer comment section) and then signed. I've rented from dozens of care rental businesses and have never been presented with alleged damage that was clearly pre-existing. After Googling, I found they had settled a class action law suit for related behavior in 2025.

Representative at the counter knew that our flight was delayed multiple times and knew that we would be coming in right as they were closing. Got to the counter a couple minutes after closing and no one was there while every other car rental agency at the airport had a representative still working. Frustrated that they knew we were working through multiple delays and didn't attempt to try to help knowing that we would be getting there right when they're closing. No attempt to help or try to go beyond. We are now stuck ubering 65 minutes at 11pm and will need to do the same at 7am tomorrow morning to come back for the car

Juan has not been helpful and stubbornly refused to help. I have been a long time Sixt customer with status. Have rented all over the world. The customer experience has always been top at every location. I got transferred to Juan at the Reno location from central reservations to help with a high end car reservation. He was stubborn, unyielding, kept repeating the same corporate phrase, refused to help, refused to ask the manager for help, and when asked did not provide any alternate solutions to a simple ask. He was not willing to help with a reservation other than sending me back to make yet another new res online with (literally) the hope that ‘maybe’ it will be approved. Poor customer handling, One star.

Wow, what an awful surprise from this company. I have rented from them many, many times, and this past weekend, I had a car with a mechanical failure in Reno/Lake Tahoe. It happened immediately when I restarted the car after arriving at my Airbnb.I called (several times) and I kept being told someone from Reno would call me back and arrange to replace the car. Never got a call, never got a replacement car. I ended up having to leave the car at the Airbnb to return home (it had a drive train failure and the blue icon in the photo means tow the vehicle). Sixt towed it after I left for home, then they CHARGED ME FOR THE RENTAL. Called Sixt customer service again, told that I will get a call back - unsurprisingly no response. I had to file a dispute (successfully) with my credit card company. Worst customer service I've ever experienced with any travel company ever. I will never rent from Sixt again, and I hope this is fair warning for others.
