Didn't plan on saying a word of my experience when I visited Camping World of Reno this last weekend but after the phone call I just received from one of the "managers", I guess I will! I called and scheduled an appt with a woman sales rep (I specifically asked for a woman) I met with Shannen, answered her questions about what I'm looking for (I'm open to any type of RV) my budget, payments, etc. I will say she's new to sales so I can cut her some slack but she very much put me into a box of what was going to be for me and none of which were ones I would consider. I was shown the same type of RV over and over. I understand she was being respectful of the budget I gave her but at the end of the day, we are all willing to pay more for the right fit aren't we? I had to ask to look at other types of RV's and she mentioned a surplus lot at one point but apparently there was no way we were going to visit it. At one point she brought out her manager (a man) who then did nothing but give me a terrible sales pitch on a certain brand that has good warranties because apparently things will be breaking right away and parts can be excitement. I certainly don't think I want a new RV that breaks right away..That seems weird to me but who am I? He was pretty uptight. Anyway, she just seemed uninterested in showing me different options so I gave up. I left and went to a different place. Cut to today, a manager (a man) calls to see how the visit went so I told him. He then proceeded to mansplain to me my own budget and the trailers available. (This is why I asked for a woman sales rep) and before anyone wants to hop on and say 5th wheels and toy haulers are more than travel trailers... for sure but I'll tell you right now I found plenty that were well within the range I'm willing to pay. You don't go in with the highest you'll pay... You give them low end and you keep the high end to yourself to allow for some wiggle room right? Nonetheless... I was honest and told him chances are I'll go with the second place and didn't want to waste his time and he promptly ended the conversation. This is no hate to Shannen, she's new, I get it. Just wasn't a fit for me. But the mansplaining follow up call? Eww....

Shannen lied to us when she said the price of the trailer while we were on the lot. Once inside talking numbers all of a sudden the trailer was more expensive. When I confronted her she invalidated what I said and said she never said that. Then while negotiation price she lowered the price”let’s go camping” package to $1. Great except when we actually signed papers all of a sudden our let’s go camping package didn’t include a kit. Not exactly sure what the point of that even was. Jp, the service guy, was very nice until he wasn’t. The moment he knew we weren’t buying the extra stupid light up palm tree he was very rude and couldn’t get us out fast enough. Brian was nice but for sure is a salesmen. Would not recommend buying from them. Tons of hidden fees and deception. Will be paying the bad boy off quick so they don’t keep making money off of us.

I have a used 5th whee that I am trying to sell. after seeing the Camping World advertising boasting that they buy and sell more than any other dealership I decided to give them a try. they were very cordial when I arrived and talked to the sales manager. The approximation of an offer was lower than i wanted but not surprising. Camping world sent someone out to look at the trailer which was a drive to get to, I appreciated that. after it was inspected I was told that it was very clean and the interior was in excellent condition. The exterior had a couple of very minor tear in the material on the edge of the roof no leaking. I had preemptivly apply some sealing tape to those areas as a precaution but they could easily be repaired. then he said there was delamination of the fiberglas in one area, again a very small area that can easily be repaired. I felt like we would be able to make a deal that would be a win win. then they called me and said that there were patches in the roof which there are not and in order to sell the unit they would have to replace the whole roof. Ridiculous! the offer was 1/2 of what they originally quoted. I will never walk onto a camping world lot again for any reason and will tell all of my RV freinds about the experience. A huge waste of time and insulting on top of it.
