- MAMark AddisonJun 23, 20265.0As long as this store is around with the current staff, I will patronize it. The service is courteous, and the staff has a willing heart to help. I have had several instances where I needed help and received service without even asking. For example, my wife's car needed windshield wipers. The store attendant saw me in the aisle, going back and forth. He approached me and asked if I would like him to look up which blade I needed. He went to the computer, and just like that, I found the blade. The attendant had stated that if I needed help, he would kindly assist me. I thought it would be simple, but the European blades come with adapters, and it threw me for a loop. Anyway, another attendant saw me struggling as he was preparing to leave for his car. The attendant came over, while it was raining, and said, "Let me help you put the blades on." Man, I was blown away by the service and willingness to help. This kind of service is rare if you're not sitting in a restaurant, lol. Kudos to the staffing at Advance Auto at "1366 St. George's Ave."

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
