I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my experience at your Turnersville, New Jersey location (4300 Route 42) on Saturday, July 11, 2026. What should have been a routine vehicle rental became an unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming experience because of the way my transaction was handled by Lilly Fisher, Flagship Assistant Branch Manager. Upon arriving at the branch, I presented everything required to complete my rental. I provided my valid driver's license, my physical debit card, and all requested documentation. When my debit card's chip failed to read in the payment terminal, I noticed that the terminal clearly displayed an option to swipe the card. Ms. Fisher informed me that it was Enterprise policy that debit cards could not be swiped and that only the chip could be used. When I questioned this, she instructed me to visit Enterprise's website, stating that the policy was posted there. Because I needed the rental vehicle, I had no choice but to leave your location and drive to another bank to withdraw cash. I then had to travel to a different bank to deposit those funds into another account so I could use a different debit card. Only after making multiple trips and spending additional time and effort was I able to return to the Turnersville branch and complete my rental. When I returned, I informed Ms. Fisher that I had followed her instructions and searched Enterprise's website. I was unable to locate any published policy stating that a physical debit card cannot be swiped when the chip fails to read. The information I found simply states that customers must present a physical debit card and meet the applicable debit card requirements. I did exactly that. My debit card was physically present, valid, and issued in my name. I also pointed out that if this truly is an Enterprise corporate policy, it should be readily available to customers in writing. Customers should not be expected to rely solely on a verbal explanation of a policy that cannot be found on your website or in any publicly available customer payment guidelines. Respectfully, an employee cannot become the policy. If a policy exists that directly affects a customer's ability to complete a rental transaction, it should be documented, accessible, and consistently communicated. If no such written corporate policy exists, then I would appreciate an explanation as to why I was denied the ability to use a payment method that was visibly available on the payment terminal and not prohibited by the published payment policy I reviewed. This complaint is not simply about a malfunctioning debit card. It is about the unnecessary inconvenience I experienced because I was instructed to comply with a policy that I could not verify. Had I not gone through the inconvenience of visiting two separate banks to move my own money between accounts, I would have been unable to rent my vehicle despite meeting Enterprise's published payment requirements. I respectfully request that Enterprise Mobility: Conduct a full review of my experience at the Turnersville, New Jersey branch on July 11, 2026. Clarify whether Enterprise has a written corporate policy prohibiting employees from swiping a physical debit card when the chip cannot be read. Provide me with a copy of that policy or direct me to where it is publicly available. Determine whether the information I was provided by Ms. Fisher accurately reflects Enterprise's corporate policies. Review the customer service provided during my visit and ensure employees are not citing policies that customers cannot independently verify. I have always regarded Enterprise as a company committed to excellent customer service, which made this experience especially disappointing. I believe policies should be transparent, consistently applied, and easily accessible to customers. I hope Enterprise will thoroughly investigate this matter and provide a written response addressing each of the concerns outlined above. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your prompt response. Respectfully, Tiffiny Squire
