I’ll try to make this a quick one.
About four months ago, my car died, which forced me into the mundane and stressful world of car buying. During that time, I visited several dealerships. Some experiences were not great, some places pushed financing on me, and a lot of the time I just felt uncomfortable.
Eventually, I landed at Lester Glenn Chevrolet in Toms River. At the time, I was working with cash only. The team there, especially Seamus, did their best to find me a car within my budget. What stood out to me was not just the cars — it was his no-pressure, no-games, transparent attitude. That was the real pitch.
Unfortunately, we came up empty-handed at that time, but there was no awkwardness or pressure. Seamus simply told me he would keep looking.
Fast forward, I ended up buying a truck from a dealership in Maple Shade. I was super happy. My wife no longer had to stress about getting to work, transportation for the kids’ sports was secure, and everything finally felt like it was falling into place.
At least, that’s what I thought — until the check engine light came on right after I got home.
I immediately took it in for service, and then I was put through the ringer. They had the truck I paid cash for for almost three months. There was no transparency about what work was being done, if any, and no one seemed to have a real answer about what was wrong with it. After several failed attempts to get somewhere, I brought out the big guns and got my wife involved — and bam, justice prevailed.
I eventually received a full refund. They said “no harm, no foul,” but seriously? There was definitely harm. Driving an hour each way, wasting gas, juggling work, school, and transporting the kids with only one car was no easy feat. But I digress.
Once I knew I was getting the refund check, I heard a faint voice in the back of my mind saying, “Call Seamus from Lester Glenn.” His professionalism, transparency, and no-pressure approach had stuck with me. So I trusted my intuition and reached back out.
Seamus was genuinely grateful to hear from me and felt bad about what I had gone through. He quickly figured out what I was looking for and sent me listings that were within my budget. About a week later, I made arrangements to come down, and he showed me two vehicles.
I ended up going with the second option because I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I put it in drive. I remembered something Seamus told me when we first test drove cars months earlier: “Don’t get it unless you absolutely love it.” That stuck with me, and this time, I knew.
Originally, I had been working with cash only, but in today’s car-buying world, finding a nice, reliable vehicle for $18,500 is not easy. I knew I had to raise my budget, but I wanted to stay under $28,000. TJ, the manager, worked with me and negotiated what I believe was a fair price based on the year, mileage, and condition of the vehicle.
Before going back to Lester Glenn, I had already secured a car loan through my bank. Devin also worked hard to help me find a better interest rate, and I truly appreciated the effort.
Every single person I worked with — Seamus, TJ, and Devin — showed the highest level of professionalism, attentiveness, and care. They knew what I had been through with the previous dealership, and I could tell they genuinely wanted to make this experience different. It did not feel like they just wanted to sell me a car. It felt like they respected the fact that I came back and trusted them.
Sometimes spending the extra money really does make a difference — not just in the quality of the vehicle, but in the quality of the service you receive.
I love my truck.
Seamus, TJ, and Devin — don’t change.
