- QLQueenie LiAug 22, 20265.0Ordered car battery online while I was in the store. They processed the order within 5-10 minutes. Employee clearly and patiently explained the additional cost that is also refundable after installation and they take the replaced part back. Employee efficiently installed the car battery while I went to take a walk at the grocery store in the same plaza. I might have been gone for 15-20 minutes. I returned and asked about the refund for $22 before tax. The refund for the additional cost was completed and back in my account the same day. This is the second time I had my car battery replaced here. 3-3.5 years apart. The car battery lived beyond the warranty of 3 years. Different employee this time. The employee from last time was also clear, helpful and efficient -- they did it in very cold temperatures and it might have been drizzling. This time it was a decent temperature in the summer -- no rain. Hopefully I won't need to go back for a while. But I would come back here again if needed. Actually, all of the Advance Auto Parts stores I've been to, have been pretty helpful. All of the employees I interacted with were very efficient and patient.

I was there a few months ago and I immediately went up to the worker and told them I needed a new headlight. They found out which one I needed and let me purchase it. I went to return it and they refused because it was “opened” but how else am I supposed to know it was the correct one unless opened? I am sure if I was a man, they would have let me return it. While I understand store policies, this is unacceptable for them to lead me purchase the wrong one.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
