I had used this shop several times before, so I went back when I had a flat tire on my Jeep Wrangler.
After removing the tire, they told me it could not be repaired. I said that was fine and simply asked them to install the spare tire so I could leave. That was all they did — they removed the flat tire and installed the spare, which took approximately 15–20 minutes.
When I asked how much I owed, they told me $47.97. I was surprised because I did not remember paying that much before. When I questioned the price, they mentioned that prices had gone up and said something about 21-inch tires. I paid and left.
Afterward, I looked more carefully at the invoice and noticed that I had been charged for “Flat Repair & Balance, 20”+ Rim.” The problem is that my tire was NOT repaired and it was NOT balanced. They specifically told me the tire could not be repaired. All they did was install my spare tire.
Even more interesting, I took the supposedly “unrepairable” tire somewhere else, and they were able to repair it.
Based on my experience, I strongly suggest asking for the price before allowing any work to be done and carefully checking your invoice before leaving the shop. Make sure you are actually receiving the services you are being charged for.
