- JHJon Harvey2 days ago5.0Live in Leland but was across the bridge on business when I randomly decided to try this Advance location in my never ending quest for good customer service. You can get parts anywhere, but sadly, what is increasingly hard to find is "good" customer service. I say it like that because nowadays I'm tickled to death if I encounter just "average" c.s., so oh boy!, I knew half through the door when I was greeted pleasantly by a person yet even seen, that I had potentially stumbled upon something even more elusive than "good" service, the extremely rare, excellent customer service!!! Yep yep yep, huge success!! The lady manager person was so awesome, and she bragged that her crew is even cooler. She didn't say it like that but I admire that she is so proud of her staff and am quite confident that her pride is well founded. Been to a lot of other places I'll thankfully never have to visit again. What a wonderfully pleasant surprise to find such an awesome person! Thank you manager lady person, you made my day!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
