You would be greeted by a porter who’s goal is to try to upsell you (because that’s how car washes get rich off of you) and when I asked for the cheapest wash, the $13 one and wanted to pay cash (credit card skimmers exist), the porter asked if I had exact change. I had one $20 bill and three $1 bills, asking him if he had $10 change. He didn’t answer and immediately told me to get the $23 wash. The porter didn’t say much but he was just fulfilling the goal of the car wash to upsell and get rich off of people like us in the 95 degree heat. So, for the first time ever, I put my car in reverse and left that car wash to go to the 7-11 car wash across the street. It’s porter less there, which is good because I know how to use touchscreens. I don’t need a middle person that I would feel obligated to give money to with figuring out a touch screen.
