  Extremely angry about being upsold unneeded items to complete the inspection this happened on multiple occasions. I was told they would not pass inspection unless we bought new windshield wipers, one of two vehicles already had them. Very unacceptable. I am waiting for an area supervisors call now on day 3. Would not return

  Went in for an inspection. They claimed my car would fail the inspection because of the wiper blades - however the blades are practically brand new. A small piece of debris was under the blade to cause a minor streak, but a visual inspection would quickly show they were fine. I accepted paying the failed inspection fee and had it inspected elsewhere, where it passed with no problem. I had already written off this location from changing my oil because they had stripped the threads from my oil plug, which caused ongoing leakage problems, but I thought I could at least trust them with a simple inspection. No. Although this is the most convenient location for me, I will never trust them to do anything to my car again. Avoid.

  I took my 1.5 year old car here for a state inspection and they said I need new wipers and they said they sell them. I didn't agree with them but whatever. Then my wife took her car here too and AGAIN they said she needs new wipers. What they didn't know is we JUST got new wipers ONE WEEK ago. These guys are scamming

  I came to this Valvoline to get an inspection for my vehicle. During the inspection process, I was informed that my wiper blades would not pass inspection. After reading reviews, I thought they were trying to scam and get extra money out of me. I brought this to the manager's attention. He informed me that wipers are part of the safety aspect of the inspection. The inspectors there are held liable if they pass a car that does not meet safety standards. I still did not want to pay $30 per wiper. After explaining my gripe, I was told I can pay half the inspection fee ( as a "fail") purchace wipers elsewhere and pay the other half after I had new wipers. I paid the failed inspection fee, purchased wipers and came back. They installed the wipers free and passed my inspection. All in all, it was an easy process.

  DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION FOR NC AUTO INSPECTIONS: After the car inspection was complete, the Valvoline floor manager came up to me and told me that my vehicle had passed inspection, but in order to "Pass" I needed to get new wiper blades from them because the current ones installed were not working properly and leaving streaks on the windshield. I also requested that he demonstrate the streaks he's talking about or show damage to the wiper blades. He said he doesn't make the rules, and my only options were either to get new wiper blades @ $30/piece to pass inspection or to leave without passing inspection, but I would have to pay a $20 failed inspection fee. I felt that this manager at this location used my need for inspection and used the only excuse he could find - in this case, windshield wipers - as an upselling tactic or scam to upcharge services. I also filed a former complaint with the NC DMV.
