My wife stopped into this store today to get new batteries for her vehicle. Her car has a main and an auxiliary so she had them both with her when she went to the store. There was a very nice and helpful person in the parking lot that saw her struggle with the large battery and grabbed the cart from inside the store. She purchased the two new batteries and the salesperson placed them on the cart and said she could use the cart to bring them to her car. At no time did anyone associated with the store offer to help. My wife then proceeded to pull them out into the parking lot and thang goodness the same nice person was there, he ran into the store and stated something to the salesperson working there and only then did someone come out and help. This is just customer service 101. Help the people who go to your store, especially with very heavy and dense parts like a large battery. It takes a few minutes, there was no one else in the store, so why not help. BTW, we support our local brick and mortars when we can. I could have just ordered it on Amazon and paid less, had it delivered to my door and not had to deal with a salesperson like this at all. At Advance we spent $461.15, whereas through Amazon, for a Delco battery with the same warranty period it would have been $347.18. I will call and talk to the general manager when he is back in the store so he is aware. However, the next time I will do the math first and avoid terrible service.
So, the response from the owner, at lest the reported owner is that they have forwarded this to the Field Leadership team. Who exactly is the Field Leadership team? How many of the people who have identified an issue with a store have ever been contacted by the Field leadership team? So here are the names of this team. Shane O'Kelly - President and chief executive officer, Tony Hurst - Senior Vice President of store operations and DIY transformation, Ryan Grimsland, Executive Vice president and Chief Financial officer, Bruce Starnes, Executive vice president, Chief Merchant, Jeff Vining, Executive vice president, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Kristen L. Soler, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer, Chris Agostino, President, Carquest Independents... The list goes on. I personally challenge any of the, the ones on this "Field Leadership Team" to Personally contact me and actually take the time to understand and address the very basic and simple issue identified here. They even have a very nice web site that lists these names and shows wonderful pictures of all of them in nice suits. The interesting part is that there is no contact information or means for us, the actual paying customer to reach out and contact them. We rely on someone stating they "will pass it along" I am available, free, and willing to talk to them, to explain how this situation changed my impression, to actually be heard, not just pacified. Its an easy store search to see who I am. The challenge is for them to take the effort to find, ask, and engage. If they don't, then I may as well just shop at Amazon, at least they will deliver to the door.
So I did find a corporate portal where I can register my concerns. I will update as to how that goes. If they respond, take it seriously, make changes then maybe they are above board. If not, then we can make our own decisions. Time will tell, but the good thing is that I have plenty of it and I don't just let things like this drop. Lets see what Advance offers that Amazon cannot.... I may just have to delay installation of the batteries and just get them for less and return the ones I got. No need rewarding lip service.

I want to give this store and employees and huge thumbs up!
I needed a battery a few weeks ago and they were very good about installing it and treated me with kindness!
Now fast forward 2 weeks and battery was dead so after jumping it and going to them, they were so kind and did the testing and replaced the battery!
Highly recommend not only the store but the employees working there!

Manny the manager apparently doesn't cover lifetime warranty on parts bought there so I won't be doing anymore business there.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
