- BBBuck0411 day ago5.0Fantastic customer service. My wife and I were at doctors and her car didn’t start. We expected alternator or battery, so I drove to Advanced and spoke with the manager Joe. He sold me 20’ cables so I could jump her car in a tough position and let me know to drive it back over to rest and see what’s causing the issue. We drove her car over and Joe found the battery to be bad, and that ours was covered under warranty. He changed it out for us in the parking lot. I know this is normal procedure but his positive attitude the entire time and how efficient he was is why I’m writing this. Thanks again Joe!

Employee Joe Conner assisted me. He was friendly and professional and provided excellent customer service by testing and analyzing my existing battery issue and explaining each test result to my satisfaction. We ultimately decided that a new battery may be required. I asked for a top-of-the-line premium battery. After he performed the installation he tested again to verify that the issue was resolved and was not some other problem like the alternator, which it was not. Based on my experience at this store I can highly recommend it, especially if Joe is there.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
