- ARAiden RuddickSep 28, 20262.0This is not a review of my experience shopping with this specific Advance Auto Parts, but more of a sad experience I witnessed. At around 7:40PM, there was a homeless gentleman sitting outside the advance auto building on the sidewalk, not on the property directly. Other people and I helped this man by providing for him and were talking to him. I went inside to ask for a pen, paper and bags to write down the address for the Onslow Community Outreach, and for him to carry his food. As I was walking out to give the address to this man though, one of the employees there told the gentleman to get off the property, without showing some understanding or compassion. Blatantly told this individual to get out. Now, I understand it unfortunately may not be a great look to have this man outside their business, or he may be frequent to that area, but there were better, more respectful avenues for telling him to leave. What I watched was plain disrespectful and rude. This is not a critique on how they do business, but watching one of the workers be disrespectful to that man did not give me a good perspective on that business. If that’s how customers are treated too, then man, that is one disrespectful business.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
