I had a very disappointing experience with John Hiester Chevrolet. The salesman we had was absolutely horrible. I was in the dealership sitting in front of the salesman and he was on the phone with my husband. During his conversation with my husband, his tone became unnecessarily confrontational, and he raised his voice.
Throughout the interaction, I felt uncomfortable and talked down to rather than treated like a valued customer. Purchasing a vehicle is a significant decision, and customers should feel comfortable asking questions without being made to feel foolish or intimidated.
This salesman continually bad mouthed another dealership (Sir Walter Chevrolet in Raleigh) which is who we ultimately bought our car from because they were kind and caring.
I understand that misunderstandings can happen, but there is no reason for a salesperson to speak to customers in such an unprofessional manner. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression, and I would not feel comfortable recommending this dealership to others.

Terrible tech but wonderful front desk lady!
Called and was told my 100k dollar Denali ultimate had one free oil change left so we took it up there. After dropping it off was met by a man with some paperwork saying it wasn’t going to be free because we had reached over 35k miles but he seemed confused why that was as he walked away after being told to go ahead anyways that we would pay. A little while later a nice lady came and told us they would honor what was told to us over the phone and it was again free, yay!! We waited around
about 45 mins and was told it was all finished and we took the keys and left…. Drove home 25ish miles and parked and noticed smoke literally pouring out from under the hood, I figured the oil cap hadn’t been put on good so I popped the hood, walked around to the front to open it and noticed a large oil stain mark/smear on the front bumper, after opening the hood I noticed the oil cap was on so I looked around confused through the smoke and noticed the right side of the motor was covered in oil, puddled up in all the crevices, the whole drivers side wheel well was soaked in oil, so I looked up to see if it was on the underside of the hood and nothing?? So we called and spoke with service who said don’t drive it and a tow truck would be on the way shortly, I stated that it is my work vehicle and I had to have it to tow with for work the next day and would need a replacement until it was fixed(whatever the issue may be) I was told no problem and they would call me right back. During the waiting I looked over the Yukon and noticed oil hand prints on the paint on the drivers side side mirror and then what made me angry was on the inside of the drivers door on the Bose speaker grill was a perfect 5 finger oil print where I’m guessing the tech placed his hand while it was in the air getting the oil change and inspection done. I was very upset!! How do you mistreat a 100k dollar vehicle like that?? Anyways
, they called back and said a tow truck was being sent and I needed to come get a car for a loaner, I asked if it had a Reece hitch so I could tow my trailer for work and was told no they don’t have any vehicles available for that, which was a lie, I counted about 12 used trucked for sale on the lot, not new trucks that would have worked fine. The nice lady did tell me she spoke with the tech and he told her he had an oil spill accidentally on our motor while changing the oil and did attempt to clean most of it up. She advised that’s probably the whole issue and it’s just oil burning off the motor from the heat which I agreed was probably the case. I told her since they don’t have a vehicle to replace mine that’s compatible I wouldn’t be able to let them take the Yukon and we would test it out tomorrow to see if it smoked anymore and if so I’d call back which she agreed to. The service manager (Bobby) sent a text the next day to see how things were but when we answered the text he never responded at all to any of our responding questions so we waited a few days and text again and he had a different person text us back apologizing for forgetting to text us back. Over all a terrible experience and no one has bothered to see about sending out a mobile cleaner to clean up under the hood or the oil from off the outside or inside, which is a bummer for them since we have purchased 3 vehicles form them in the past 4 years and even had my son buy his first truck from there. NOT HOW TO DO BUSINESS!!

Very disappointing experience at John Heister Chevrolet in Lillington.
I was shopping for an EV and was seriously considering buying from this dealership. Unfortunately, the numbers they gave me were nowhere near competitive. They were trying to get me to pay roughly $300 more per month for essentially the same vehicle than the deal I ultimately got elsewhere.
What makes it worse is that I bought the vehicle the very next day—just from a dealership that was actually willing to give me a fair deal and work with me without making me feel like I was getting taken advantage of.
Car buying is already stressful enough without dealerships making the process harder than it needs to be. If another dealer can sell you essentially the same vehicle for $300 less per month the very next day, that says a lot about the deal you were being offered.
I would strongly recommend shopping around and getting multiple written offers before doing business here. I’m very glad I walked away, because it ended up saving me a substantial amount of money.

Not surprised to see this dealership already has such a high rating. I purchased a used vehicle and I had a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Buying a car is usually stressful but staff were really chill. I worked with Colby who was very patient. Even though I worked with Colby everyone in the building made an effort to speak or help out in some way. I found three vehicles in my area (Raleigh) with similar Specs and Comps but ended up driving the extra miles to Lillington because they were easier to deal with. Thanks everyone at Hiester Automotive.

I’m giving two stars because the service department did ultimately honor my manufacturer’s warranty after my vehicle passed 60,000 miles. Unfortunately, the experience surrounding those repairs was incredibly frustrating.
I originally brought my vehicle in just before the 60,000-mile warranty expired because something was clearly wrong. They made a repair, but afterward I could tell there was still an issue. I brought it back and was told nothing was wrong. It was later determined that there was, in fact, another major engine issue requiring a significant repair and a full teardown of the engine.
By that point, my vehicle had passed 60,000 miles, but because I had brought it to them and raised the concern while it was still under warranty just a few weeks earlier, they honored the warranty. I absolutely give them credit for that.
Unfortunately, after a repair that involved completely tearing down and reassembling the engine, I developed a significant oil leak because the vehicle had not been properly reassembled. That required yet another trip back to the shop to correct their work.
Within a week of getting the vehicle back after that repair, the front camera failed because of a loose cable. At that point, I simply could not bring myself to take the vehicle back again.
I appreciate that they stood behind the warranty, which is the reason for the two stars. However, having to return repeatedly because issues were missed or repairs were not completed correctly has left me with very little confidence in the quality of their service work. If you have a Chevrolet with a significant warranty repair, I would strongly consider having the work performed at another Chevrolet dealership.
