  I chose this car wash because it had just opened and it was very convenient, being close to my home. Unfortunately, after about 10 months of having a membership and washing my car 3–4 times a month, the overall look of my car has been seriously damaged. The paint is now covered in scratches and swirl marks that weren’t there before. Instead of keeping the car clean and well-maintained, this place has actually ruined its appearance. Now I have to spend extra money on a full paint correction to fix it. Very disappointing experience. I’ll be going back to Sam’s Express from now on.

  Great locally run business filled with great people. The wash cleans my car more thoroughly than any other in town, and the air compressor/blow gun at the vacuum station is very powerful. That makes cleaning dirt/carpets very easy! Anyone who loves Hickory should love Tommy's - I'm thankful for their strong involvement in the community.

  I had coupon for free wash. Went to drive up window and staff was friendly. Had to got thru wash twice cause the pollen on car was terrible. Free vacuum and car mat cleaner. Was happy!!

  A Masterclass in Being a Bad Neighbor. Congratulations are in order! In nearly 1 year, Tommy's Express has managed to accomplish something truly remarkable: making an entire neighborhood miserable and showing absolutely no sustained interest in fixing it. Let's start with the music. From 7am to 8pm, seven days a week, residents within 200 yards of this establishment are treated to a non-stop soundtrack of music and advertisements whether they want it or not. I can hear it clearly from inside my kitchen, my bedroom, my living room, my garage, and especially on weekend mornings when most reasonable people are trying to sleep in, Tommy's Express in Hickory has already curated a playlist just for me. How thoughtful. When concerns about the noise are raised with management, the volume was turned down for a day or two, just long enough to suggest they understood the problem, and then the volume crept right back up. This has become a cycle: complain, temporary fix, volume creeps back up - wash, rinse, repeat. At this point it feels less like an oversight and more like a policy. Then there's the traffic. Because the exit was so poorly designed, a steady stream of cars block traffic on 127 and use the residential street as a turnaround to get back onto the main road. These aren't slow, cautious drivers who recognize they've wandered into a neighborhood with children and pedestrians. They're moving at high speeds through streets that were never meant to serve as a bypass route for a car wash! Multiple neighbors have raised this concern. Nothing has changed. As a bonus, the neighborhood has also inherited Tommy's trash. Litter regularly ends up in residents' yards, a small but fitting symbol of how little regard this business has shown for the community it moved into. Management has been contacted (multiple times) yet the problems persist. Tommy's Express is very good at doing outreach for the community at large, just not to the ones who actually live next door: The neighbors who didn't get a say when this was built. the families whose yards collect the litter, and the residents whose weekends start at 7am whether they like it or not. If you need your car washed, they may do a good job. Just know that the apartments and single family homes living directly behind this place have to deal with the trash, the excessive commercial traffic, and constantly hearing the early 2010s greatest hits from 7am - 8pm with a disembodied robotic voice saying "Please place your car in neutral and lift your foot off the brake" every 2 minutes. Worst Regards, The residents of 22nd Ave NE who lived here quietly and peacefully until some guy from the Charlotte Metro decided that Hickory needed ANOTHER car wash.

  Twice now, despite no employees at the entrance and the screen telling me to pull forward, I’ve almost been ran into the car in front of me. And this time, I came out of the wash with my car still covered in bubbles. I had to go home and wash it off with the hose so it didn’t streak terribly.
