Dropped my car off for an oil change and about an hour later I received a call stating that they had some questions about my vehicle. When I called back and spoke with Lisa I was told that the technician took the oil plug out and noticed it was stripped and screwed it back in so that it would not leak oil, and that they could not complete the oil change until my whole oil pan was replaced- but not to worry, she could have the part there within 2 days and the repair would cost $561. When I arrived in person I was then told that the plug was not taken all of the way out, and that the oil pan for my car (a 2024 Hyundai sonata) could only be ordered directly from Hyundai, and you cannot just replace the plug, so that is why the repair would be so expensive. The two scenarios told to me within minutes didn’t make any sense, and this was the first oil change that the car would have since I purchased it from a dealership. I decided to leave and get a second opinion. I called a shop I’d used previously (another Mavis, they were just an hour away, which is why I didn’t go to them initially) and was told over the phone that what I was told didn’t sound right, and they were concerned that if the plug was stripped that my car would then begin leaking oil. We decided that I should immediately drive an hour to that shop for them to look at my vehicle. Within minutes of arriving I was told absolutely nothing was wrong with my oil plug or my oil pan. The technician even removed my plug and put in a brand new one to test the threads on the pan itself and was fine. (Which again, Lisa told me that you couldn’t just purchase an oil plug). They did point out that my oil cap was not screwed back on from the first shop, and found it up underneath my wiper blades. Thankfully no oil seemed to come out of the top during my hour and 15 minute drive there. I was in and out with a fresh oil change in less than 30 minutes from my arrival time and was told not a single thing was wrong or faulty with my oil pan or plug. Lisa not only lied directly to my face, but she did so very poorly, solely to try to get me to spend more money. As a woman it is already intimidating dealing with any type of mechanic shop or dealership because we feel like we will be taken advantage of due to lack of personal knowledge of cars, etc. For another woman to attempt to be so deceiving is not only distasteful, it’s pathetic, and this woman was training a new employee (Jonathan) while doing so. Have the day you deserve, Lisa! Safe to say I will never be back to this location and I hope those reading this lengthy review also steer clear.
