  Purchased a custom fit leer truck cap for my dodge ram. I chose the rear hatchback door configuration. It functioned well for a little over a year before I began to have issues with it. The rivets holding the door to the cap broke off about a year after install. Not a super big deal because I was able to reattach with bigger rivets. Fast forward another year and the welds at the top of the door broke off due to what I believe is a poor design placement of the hydraulics applying too much pressure to specific points of the door. Upon consultation from Leonard truck outfitters, they only offer 1year warranty (just past that after first malfunction) and said their fix was to install a new door for $600. I paid over $4000 for this this cap for it to only work properly for a little over a year makes me feel like I made a bad purchase.

  I left my truck at the Gastonia 321 location while I was out of town for the week for them to do a spray in bedliner and install a ladder rack that I had already purchased on my own. There was a little bit of complication with knowing whether or not the ladder rack could be installed since it was not purchased from them, but ultimately the decision was made to let them open my ladder rack and see if it was going to be possible. Upon return, I still had not heard anything from them, had not had any calls or updates on the progress of the work being completed on my truck. I called them the first day that I was back in town and they proceeded to tell me that they knew that the bed got sprayed, but they weren’t sure about the ladder rack. Once they checked, they responded that the truck was ready for pick up. Upon arrival to the location, the ladder rack had not been installed. The box had not even been opened for them to check if they could do it. Instead of them taking two seconds to call me and let me know that they were not going to be able to install the ladder rack, they let it sit there for the full week unfinished. Now I am back in town needing the ladder rack to already be installed for work and it is not. That is totally unacceptable. In addition to this when I tried to put my tailgate down to check the spray in bedliner job, the tailgate would not unlatch properly or lower itself. After sitting there for 45 minutes or so, they finally figured that out and blamed it on someone that sounds to be a contracted out person to do the spray in bedliner since they do not do that on location. Communication was a 0 out of 10 on their end. Through talking with multiple employees I finally find out that they had no intentions of even attempting to put the ladder rack on, even though they let me think that they were gonna at least see if they could do it. The owner apparently point blank said no we’re not doing it and that was that. I found that very disrespectful of my time and I will not be using this company again. I could have had the rack installed somewhere else while I was gone had I known.
